Happy First Day of March everyone! That means Spring is only 19 days away! And, we turn back the clocks on the 9th - that's in only 8 days!
Early clock-turning and early Easter (23d) - I hope those are signs of good things to come this year!
WARNING!!! Spring is Fast Approaching!
I hope so!
We need another January thaw here.
Can't happen soon enough for me either. We lucked out again, not much snow and some melting happening now. I hope you guys up north don't get clobbered. One good thing though, this is a spring pattern for the storm tracks so at least that is encouraging. A bit warmer next week too. :)
You're right, ngam, we're supposed to have about four days of 40's - 50's. The snow is already melting today, thank goodness!
Wheee! Happy March! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Can't wait! Very early Easter since there is a full moon the day after spring arrives. Easter is the Sunday following that.
I already like this thread....now can you do something about the weather?
Sure, Celeste, what would you like? Put your order in!
I'm working on it, Celeste.
I'm soooo behind on my Winter Sowing and in a few weeks it will be spring sowing!
x, Carrie
I got some of what I ordered....It's at least sunny today. So sunny that it is almost blinding from all the freshly fallen white snow. My eye does not like the brightness but my brain and the rest of my body does!
How is your poor eye, Pixie? xx, Carrie
About the same Carrie, thanks for asking. I will break down and go see the doc Mon. or Tues. if it doesn't get better. I'm just a little bit stubborn. Just a little.
I have flats of violas on the driveway, soaking up the sun. The background is all snow :-)
OH! Should I start mine? Guide me, oh wise one.... lol, Carrie
Happy March, everyone. Sue, I love that pic. It looks like Peter Rabbit should be there stealing a carrot.
Well, violas and pansies are cool weather kinds of plants, so you want to start them early. I have successfully planted them in the garden in early April with no problems.
The title of this thread should be "hooray! Spring is fast approaching!" "Warning!" goes with "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" or "don't try this at home; these are trained professionals".
xx, Carrie
the only way I could accept it as a warning is because I have so much work to do to prepare for spring. First there's garden cleanup. Okay, no big deal... well except cleaning up the dog's mess. Then, there's starting seeds. That's a big deal. Then there's preparing the ground... very big deal.
OK, that does sound like a warning, Harper. I'm making some good progress with seeds (not nearly enough, however). Garden cleanup? nice day yesterday...so I walked around and said to myself, 'yep, it's nice enough that I could actually be doing some cleanup'. Ground prep? you're right, BIG deal. I have 6 blueberry bushes coming. the bed is built, but I promised myself I would work in some acidifier last fall and of course I did not. and I think I'm going to need a new bed, at least a small one, for some stuff. and some spots on the north side of my new cottage garden are not draining so some of new plantings from last year are under water (or ice) 8^(
it's snowing and 28*
But sooner or later, it will be great out, whether or not we're ready..... x, Carrie
that's ok. I can take 'great out'
Today WAS great..for here! 46 degree's, I almost wanted to pack the longjohns away! LOL
good idea about the violas/pansy Michaela. Even though I w/s most of my plants, I think I will start some veggies indoors too.
The Glory Bush seeds I sowed are growing nice. I've already separated them into separate containers. I can't wait to see them in the garden this year.
I know how he feels....it's freezing rain now!
It's a hermaphrodite? ♫ Carrie
That snowman is melting
Pretty soon he will ooze.
So someone should tell him
"no noose is good news".
♫ Don (I borrowed Carrie's note)
Cute, Don. It's nice to start the day with a song. And the sun is shining here. La, la! (I won't borrow the note, because I'd never hit it. I'm about tone deaf.LOL or is that tonally challenged?)

It is time to say farewell to the snow people. Send them on vacation already. Bon Voyage, so long, see ya, bye bye now! :)
Yuuupppiiiiiiii!!!! come Spring!!!!!! I am ready to clean my garden!!!!
I am soooo lucky! I have March 14- March 24 off for spring break . . . I hope to get lots of gardening work done then. Please, let there be fair weather. :-)
All these sunny warmer days and I can't do a darn thing out there yet. Half the yard is still frozen and the other half is just mud. Can't be much longer now, you know its spring soon if raking and cleaning slimy nasty oak leaves sounds like a good time. :)
Oh, that's soooo true!
This time of year is garden purgatory.
I'm ready to get out there too. Unfortunately, I'll need a boat this weekend. We are expecting 4" of rain!
Wow - are they saying that much?!!
unfortunately yes. Friday into Saturday. Two storms are merging into a mother storm
