is there a way to add a category to the main sorting by

I would like to add plant height

Right now there's no way to do that. You can always put it in your individual entries, or if you really want to be able to sort by it, you could use the status field to show height ranges--in other words make a status for 6-12 inches, a status for 1-2 feet, etc, etc. Then if you sort by status, your things will show up in order of height.

I'm not sure how tricky it would be for Dave to add in a height column there--my personal thought is that the page there shows things that typically everyone has in their journal, once you start getting to really specific things like height, not everyone keeps track of that or would care to sort by that (and for everyone who wants to be able to sort by height, there are other people who would want to be able to sort by something else that's not there now.) So then to make everyone happy you have to add in 20 more columns, and then the page becomes way too crowded and unmanageable. The real way to go would be to let people do a little more customization of what fields they want in their journal and what they want to be able to sort by, but I have a feeling that would mean a major reprogramming of the whole journal.

oh the status might work.... never even thought of that... and you are right ... now you have me thinking I could put sun requirement with the height... in that column ... going to have to mess around with it .... this is my first year digging into the journal ... learning as I go.. thank you very much for the response
