Does anyone here happen to know where I can get hold of Ipomoea aquatica seeds?
Thanks

Hi Wrightie,
If anyone has or wants a plant that's in PlantFiles, then it's PF page will have a line toward the top saying so. There's a bunch on the PF page for I. aquatica -

Whoops, sorry, Bluespiral, I was focusing on commercial sources for the seeds, but I'll d-mail those that have it.
This plant is known in Mandarin Chinese as "Kong Syin Tsai" (numerous ways to spell it in English) and the literal translation is "hollow heart vegetable." This is a staple vegetable throughout East and Southeast Asia and is similar in taste to spinach, though I think that it's much yummier than spinach. I fell in love with it while living in Taiwan years ago.
Saute (stir fry) this plant in a bit of oil & fresh garlic and sprinkle with a bit of salt and ENJOY.
Here is a link to the Wikipedia entry for the plant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipomoea_aquatica
I have concerns about it's "noxious weed" listing here in the US and wonder if it would still be considered a noxious weed in my zone - probably, but I need to look that up.
Thanks, Wrightie - very useful info
My aunt loves this stuff, she brought seeds from Thailand.
LOL! I have considered asking friends in Taiwan to send me some seeds, but I know that it must be grown in the US because it shows up on the menu of a couple of *good* Chinese restaurants every once in a while, so I figured I'd give it another whirl.
I received a d-mail from someone who has some seeds, so I'm going to work out a trade with her.
