CLOSED: what are the little tiny black gnats that are flying around

There are zillions of black gnats that seem to come out of the soil around my houseplants and I need to know if anyone knows what they are and specifically how do I get rid of them. They are taking over the house! I live in Las Vegas if that helps. Sorry but I don't have a photo. They are so small. Their wings are almost transparent. They are so small you wonder if they are really there or if its your imagination. They are in my outdoor plants now but they started showing up indoors this winter. Thank you for any help: I just want to know how to get rid of them!

I would like to know too!!! They weren't around until I brought in some potting soil from out in the garage and potted up some new houseplants from Home Depot. Now the plants are crawling with them. They look like fruit flies but without the red.

I had to laugh when you said that. So true!!!!
