Maybe we need to bring this out again. This is j ust a time we need to remember and tell about the people who have helped us and been nice to us. Maybe the people who need to see it the most will read what you wrote, so if you haven't posted, please do so, if you have surely there is someone else!!! lol
Just added the above, here is originall...
Hi, I have had so many people be extra nice to me and so generous that I thought maybe we should give these people a "well done". Never know when something like that will make their day.
We don't need to tell about everyone, just a couple stories about some one who has "made our day" Matter of fact, don't even need to put names.
Oh, and all you guys who have been so helpful, please don't let your feelings hurt if we don't mention you by name, just so much room and so many great people

LET'S BRAG ABOUT MEMBERS WHO'VE REALLY HELPED US
I'd be sure to leave someone out, but I can tell you there are MANY MANY MANY who have helped me out!!! The enablers that they are! HA HA HA
Hey, with all the nurseries I've read about, I would be more likely to list BAD people who are FORCING me to spend more and more $$$ on more plants than I could ever need.
Shame on you all! ; )
Good idea Lorraine. Greenthumb07 had me punching air yesterday & she knows why. :) I owe thanx to Shellyto4kids for her unrelenting generosity. Kerri_67, you rock. And someone not on this site, but worth dropping a line is JJ who lives on Reunion island off the coast of Madagascar. Talk about location, location, location. He is great to chat to & has an amazing seed collection for sale on his site ...
http://www.barbadine.com/
Have a look & say hello from DG, he knows the site.
I think this is a good idea for a thread....
Several people here come to mind but I would like to mention this particular one. This person took the time out from having a "day job" to host 2 round robin seed trades that I have had the privilege to be a part of. Both times she sent me over 25 seed packages, went out of her way to ask me if there were any seeds I "requested" and then sent all the requests I asked for. The particular reason I mention this lady is I asked her specifically if there was a plant she wanted for her 2008 garden. She told me what it was and boy it was a rare one. But...after I finally found it I d-mailed her to tell her I had snail mailed the seed she wanted to her as a gift and she replied that she had just snail mailed me the same seed! How thoughtful is that?
Edited to add her name: Distantkin

I have traded with so many wonderful people but I have to say a special thanks to Sheran. She helped my garden thru some pretty hard times!
Caren
LorraineR ~ yes, many many wonderful folks here at DG! And not just on this forum. I can't begin to name the number of people who have influenced me and taught me so many things. They've started me onto many new pathways I never knew even existed. Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing?? Just kidding.... yeah, many cool folk here.
Sanna
OMG! Where do I begin! There are so many folks on DG whose generosity has turned my yard from boring to colorful and beautiful! So much generosity, help, and encouragement from everyone. I can't even begin to list ALL the names. But the Butterfly and Hummingbird Forum and the Morning Glory forum are my kinda folks and gardeners! (There are several other forums here also who have been so tremendously helpful and generous as well!) Y'all know who you are!
A BIG THANKS to everyone from one grateful newbie gardener who couldn't say thank you enough! DG gardeners ROCK!!!! And on the advice of so many folks ... I now have hummingbirds in my yard! WHOO HOO!
Oh ... I also didn't want to forget the kind folks who shared they touching personal stories with me this past year when I lost my beloved dog and cat unexpectedly.
And HUGE "THANK YOU" to the folks on the prayer forum who have prayed unceasingly for Luke, Kailey, and my mother! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!!!

Lorriane, I think you are pretty great yourself!
There is a member names vanillaman from Costa Rica who I have made friends with. I visited Costa Rica on my Honeymoon and my 1 year anniversary and he has been really nice to talk to.
There are toooooooo many to list. : ) But, one in particular, let me join her swap when I had alot of things going on around me, and was getting very frustrated. I didn't have hardly any seeds ready, or available to trade with.
She helped me so much, and did most of the work for me. I still don't know how to repay her, but I will one day. Somehow. Many of you know who I am talking about. A Superwoman if there ever was one, with a HUGE heart.. : )
~Lucy
As for me-when I started almost a year ago, there was one woman who treated me to my first trade...she said she just wanted it to be stress free for me. It was that first trade and the wonderful budsnblooms that did it for me. Not only did she make me a true addict, but she had encouraged me and was so kind that I wanted to repay her. Someday I still hope to, but for now, I am repaying her by paying it forward and now I help anyone who asks. :o)
Thank you so much budsnblooms, you will never know how much I appreciate what you did for me!!

I've had a pretty rough couple years, and people here who are so nice have helped me get through the day sometimes.
I agree about Distantkin, her newbie trade was the first seeds I got. I just happened up on this site, then I found the newbie trade. I am like antoinine, It got me started on this addictive thing. So it's her fault I'm an addict and have potting soil all over the floor and little plants everywhere.!!
There's no way to list the people who have helped me. So many times I've asked for advice (too many times, I'm sure) and every single time they've taken the time to help me. I know when I first started doing some single trades, everyone was just so generous. I would send my one little packet and get 10 from them. I haven't gotten where I can "pay it forward" a lot, but I'm getting there and I will use all these great people as an example.
I think God sends you what you need when you need it, and like I said I've had a rough couple years and just sat around depressed and playing solitare and then there was Daves!!
LOL-so sorry Lorraine and Antoinine for making addicts out of you-LOL Join the club :o)
Oh lord, where do I begin? So so many kind folks, not just for seeds, but for the kind advice for a once exnewbie but still kinda newbie because we are always learning:
tggfisk- for so many things and her time just to chat
yotedog- for that wonderful HotLips bush now getting ready for spring
jadajoy- helping me iwth attracting butterflies and seaholly seeds
byndeweedbeth - for showing me the world of morning glories
robyalznest
gabrielle - for those amazing echinops ritro seeds. I can't say thank you enough.
distankin - for the available of possible any seed you can think of and those wonderful trades
...and so many more- critterologist, ecrane, tobasco, horseshoe, tropicanna, suzyQ (at least I call her that :o) )...all for their knowledgable posts... and many more...
rebecca30
There are too many wonderful people that have taught me the ins and outs of seed trading! I came here knowing nothing except that I had a lot of seeds, lol! Thank you to all of the people who make this something I look forward to every day!
Kathy
I agree with everyone. This is such a group of HAPPY encouraging people. Not like the real world at all. haha Why can't the world just be full of gardeners?? I guess we'd get no work done but man would the world be gorgeous... Thanks to everyone who has helped me and traded with me. You guys are the best. I've learned everything I know about gardening from this site and you guys. I do blame you all though for the dirt in my carpet, on my craft room floor, in my sons bathroom sink and the kitchen. Also for the huge debit from my checking account for the Lilly Auction.. :-)
I have only been on here for a week or so and already there are too many to name! Fromthe generous souls who SASBE for us newbies who have nothing to all the ppl who answer questions and share their knowledge and experience. I hope I can one day be as helpful to others as they have been to me! Thanks!
Em.

Don't you just love to have friendly people around who don't know you but feel bad for you when you kitten dies.
I wouldn't even begin to list all the ones who I consider my friends and have been so helful and have realy "made my day" most days. You all know who your are. You remember, me, the nag! But you never lost patience and put up with my sarcastic sense of humor. You're right, wouldn't the world be better if everyone just got out in the dirt with some flowers and seeds for an hour or so everyday.
How can yoube a meanie after that?
No way! There really is too many good, friendly and helpful people in DG to name.
And not just on this forum. Being a quasi-newbie who knew next to nothing, I appreciate all those that answered questions, give advice, and step-by-step techniques! And all those that not only help you start with free seed...but hold your hand while you go thru the process. Those that cry with you when something fails, or laugh with you when it succeeds! And let's not forget those folk that help you in day-to-day life with their wisdom and thoughful advice.
I am positive I will miss someone, but for starters.....distantkin, robynzest, ecrane, dean_w, lazlo, Tropicanna, LariAnn, truest, noell_swfl, critterologist, tggfisk, capeCod Gardener, sannajane, iIloquin, stoval_gardens, zzsbabies, beckygardener, jordankittyjo, tggfisk.................

There are more, I could go on all day, but these are the big ones!!
There are so many, have you noticed how we all have so many and all of them have paid it forward?
As we speak, Cat64129, has spent most of the day yesterday and since about 8 this morning helping me to get a co op done. I'll never be able to thank her but I'll help someone else one day
I'll never thank Ansonfan enough for the two huge bubbles with over 100 different seeds to me and wanted nothing in return.
NY who actually called me on the phone to help me with the first co op. Wouldln't have made it without her and Fairy and on and on.
I couldn't believe all these people who have been there for me
Two women in Netherlands who have become friends and have really helped me. An57 even sent me pictures of the cementary at Normandy when she found out my dad was in that war,
Distantkin, who was my first experience with Daves as a newbie,
I could fill up 3 sheets with all who have helped me and so many have become friends You know who you are and I think I'll just d mail you and thank you since there ish't room here. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Since I got my first bit of seeds from BeckyGardner, and then a bunch more when i lost all my JPW -- then she sent me a bunch more.... she was my first real DG contact when i got here last year.
since then, I've made a bunch trades... some one sided, others seeds for seeds.
many, many trades .... and so many generous gardeners .... I dont think I could mention them all.
I've also learned A LOT from the generous gardeners in here.
This is truly an awesome collection of generous gardeners willing to share their knowledge and seeds/clippings/ plants ect.
There is also one very nice lady who i still owe plants to .... she offered me a few plants that I wanted, with nothing to offer her .... I will be in debt to her .... hopefully soon I will have something to offer her for her huge generosity.
Awwww, y'all are the best! So many good folks, so many to thank!
Kara-about half my new gardens are from yours, girl! Rebecca-Always ready to share just for the joy of it:-)brightstar who has shared so many cool surprises already, StonoRiver-thanks just doesn't cut it...go PieRats! lavendargrrl-know you're busy, but we'll always have the hostas! Helen, A new member, but so generous with her precious poppy and mg seeds:-))
And allllll of you who've shared seeds with a not so sure novice wintersower. for free, for cheap, and for postage. I know I've left out people, but here's a major THANKS to all who've sent plants, seeds, warm wishes, encouragement, advice, and kept me from being bored outta my mind when I can't sleep (dovebydesign)
Goodness...how about y'all that do the co-ops for us...! shitzhumom, 4paws, stacey....all of you!
Bev
This is hard to remember everyone off the top of my head.
carol eads-has helped so many take a look at their life-a guru!
Lebug-one of my first trades and not only generous, but kind, knowledgeable and patient as well.
Fairy1004-another one of my first trades and sooo eager to please-as all who participated in the co-op will know!
Illoquin-Suzy-the Piggy Swap Queen-organized and knows so much about plants!
Weez-super swapper and wine box superhero!
Other great folks from Carol's journey-Soulja, Shar, gloria, bluespiral, Equil, and many more
Theresa-Unusual swap organizer-great idea!
distantkin-really attentive to the needs/wants of others.
hillbilly gran-can't wait to try those mutants
dylancgc and pepsi-great swap organizers!
Xeramtheum-nicely let me know when I sent her smooshed seeds!
OK I'm sure I forgot someone, but I'm feeling like I won an Oscar or something-Thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Bev!
I would like to mention two good influences on me: bartjestuin - I bought some cards to tape seed packs in now, in a bubble coat, because of the "cool" way she sends seeds. I used to just throw seed packs in a padded envelop. I like the graceful way she does it much better. It was nice!
The other one is JRush - thanks to her I have a role model for sending plants (Remember the begonia giveaway awhile back?). Remember the ribbons? My begonia plants package was like birthday presents or something! It made my day!
So, I will take the lessons I learn here at Dave's - and make them my own.
Have a good day, everyone!
Illoquin has really been a gem..she hooked me up with some seeds and some wonderful advice..
Fairy1004 is doing that awesome coop..
and everyone else I may have forgotten..I have never met such a welcoming, helpful and friendly online communtiy!!
Do you think if I added 4 or 5 a day, I could ever get it all covered. Weezengreens found out about our mixed seed trade and sent a bag full to help us and wanted nothing for herself,
LeBug was one of my first trades too and she was so nice to me, and Seander and there are so many I don't remember names, but encouraged me and kept telling me I'd do fine.
Fairy has really helped me wih these 2 coops I decided I could do!!! She made me stick to my guns and not do more than I could handle. All the "co op girls have been nothing but good to me, not one told me to forget it. They all just helped me.
Tuinkabouter has become a friend and has been more than generous as well as funny.
More later
...............Aaaawww yes! Weezingreen and the incredible wine box...sounds like a fairy tale, doesn't it? It was! and then there is starlight 1153, and, and
There are so many wonderful people here at DG and I'm thrilled to be a part of this group. It's difficult to pick out just one or two people because this is the most carefree, polite and giving group of people I've ever come across.
Thanks to all the people who coordinate everything from the swaps to coops. Thanks to all the people from whom I have learned so much about gardening by providing valuable information from their personal experiences.
This group has given me the knowledge and confidence to build my own hoop house, try my hand at wintersowing and indoor sowing with instructions for building a PVC stand, to making a rain barrel. I'm even learning about strawbale gardening and can't wait to give that a try.
Until I came across DG and all of YOU I can honestly say that I would never have gotten into gardening as much as I have.
Thanks!
JoAnn
Man...I just noticed I didn't mention Dr. Carolyn and Farmerdill...Thank you for taking time out to help novice gardeners and sharing your vast knowledge of gardening in non-intimidating terms even the newest of gardeners can understand. You both have the patience of a Saint with some of my crazy questions and you both have helped me and my gardens tremendously.
See , you'll never be able to remember everyone who has helped. Even when someone tells me , no, don't do that, I love it cause I learned something. I lost one of my kittens last week and I can't tell you h ow many people either posted how sorry they were or dmailed me to say the same. Even looked at her picture and let me tell stories. Can't ever thank you all enough, it's like a family.
This a big ((((((((((((((((Hug)))))))))))) to encompass all the folks here on Dg. There many many folks who have shared or given seed and even more who have passed onthe greatest gift of all and that is the gift of knowledge. To our shy members who only pop in once in awhile to our experienced garden friends, I want to thank you for the gift of sharing your timing typing and the sharing of you experiences both good and bad and telling of your adventures that will leave an imprint on my mind and a legecy to pass on to further genrations.
For all the folks that in litle behidn the scence and on the furms thatkyou for making Dg a nice and friendly place to kick back, to learn, to laugh and cry together and to share and to grow as a person.
Thank you for being the caring gardeners ya all are. It is appreciated in more ways than you may realize. : )
Yes, I think Tuinkabouter is pretty cool, too.
Every time I sit down with my seeds I think of someone else who's been there and made my day. I just hope I thanked you at the time of your "gift" of being good and generous.
wow, tggfisk, jsxtiger, and rebecca, I really appreciate the kind words. I really feel like I've learned way more from folks on Dave's than the other way around, but I wasn't expecting, thanks!
I'm only going to mention a couple of people because it would take all night and only stick to seed trading not plants...there's just too much--
tggfisk--two words you taught me that got me hooked: winter sowing, thanks so much
cat64129--we spoke only briefly, but I'm not sure if I would have gotten interested in seeds at all if "that thread" hadn't come up one day, lol
distantkin--for making seed trading fun for me, and who knows who else
Tuinkabouter--for talking to me late night, and the cool seeds, too
Ursula--for teaching me creative packaging and sharing those native beauties
...and the list could go on forever, I appreciate everyone that has ever put up with me so much!
OOOOOOHHHHHHH, you all make me blush!!!!!!
Thanks for the compliments!
this is a great idea and it feels like the academy awards in that you don't want to forget anyone but here is my list. these people have helped me in one way or another...it might not be with seeds or plants.

Great idea, first off I have to thank X, she hosted the first swap I was in, even before I became a member. Sheran is another who helped me out too. There are so many, it's hard to remember. Suzy, Robbi, Cat, Peggy, Mary, Teri, Kara, I could go on and on here. All the folks on the Brug forums ZZ, Lala, Kim, Mary, James and more. Plumeria forums, Tropical forums and of course the seed forums Bless you all. This is home away from home for me.
That's a good way to describe it, home away from home. It's been that way for me. As I have said many times, I've had a really bad couple years and then I found Daves's and I know when I come here I'll feel better, so thanks again to you who put up with me.
