Hi,
I just purchased a Senna bicapsularis, Winter Cassia, and I need some advice, please. I dont know when the plant should be put into the ground. Will you give me some help?
Thanks,
Linda
Senna bicapsularis
I would imagine you're past your last frost date by now, so I'd probably get it in the ground fairly soon. If you're not past your last frost date then I'd hold off until you are past it, but plant as soon as you can after that so that it's in the ground for as long as possible before your summer heat hits.
Thanks ecrane. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me.
Linda
I should add that if you get a late freeze this year after you've planted it, I'd toss a blanket over it for the night...it's only hardy to zone 8a and newly planted things can sometimes be more susceptible to cold until they get established. If you're past what is typically your last frost date I'd still get it in the ground though, it's so much harder for things to get established if they see hot weather before they have a chance to get their roots going.
