It is really bad. I was out delivering Girl Scout cookies with my daughter and it was warmer back in January when she was out selling them.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 14
I suppose the garden will like all the rain, but I hope there won't be terrible floods.
rain. rain. RAIN. wind. more rain.
blah.
Still snowing. Can't see my back steps...the car is vanishing.
Windy, seems like it's blowing right through the house. Is everybody getting tired of snow pictures yet?
The day we left for vacation, we left in a snowstorm. We drove through a sandstorm in CA, and we came home to another snowstorm.
This weather is nuts! Huge wind gusts and raining like all get out. Temp just spiked up six degrees in about two minutes and fogged up all the windows. DH will be glad he has a jeep, small lake forming on low end of drive.
debilu welcome home! Your pics are wonderful. At least you were dry and the bright sunshine looks warm compared to this mess here today.
Hi Daisy....welcome! I'm very interested in how you make your organic fertilizer, so please let us know how it comes out!
I'd like to hear about this organic fertilizer too!!
I just heard on the radio, the storm is so bad they've made the plows park :((
Oh, Dear, 3G! Stay safe!! I can't imagine the winter you've had!!!! Chin up....Spring will come!!
Thankfully, it is all rain here ... with a flood warning that lasts through until tomorrow morning.
Louise ~ has anyone been to your cottage to get the snow off the roof? There have been a couple of roof collapses up here in NH.
Parking the snow plows?!?!?!?!
I can't imagine a storm like that! Be careful!!!
Yikes, Candyce! The guy who looks out for our place during the winter has been keeping an eye on it, and hopefully he's correct that it is ok. Yikes!! We did have the front porch roof pull away from the house one year from the weight of the snow. The walls in our front room still have "settling" cracks in them from the event. Ugh. He also reports that our sump pump is ready for the thaw.......here's hoping on that one too!!! Oh, MY!!
I am glad that he's keeping an eagle eye on things for you, Louise.
Roof collapses are getting to be common here. We have had 4 schools, a WalMart warehouse, several garages.....one containing 4 antique cars, and one of the State buildings...Human Resources. I have personally shoveled off ours 3 times just to be safe. It's bad!!
It's 34 right now and raining, due to start dropping and change over to a wintery mix later. We've gotten 3/4-1" today and are expecting another 2" between now and Sunday afternoon. We are now under a flood watch until tomorrow afternoon for rivers, streams and road ways.
Gee, with 5 foot snowbanks...I wonder why?
We lost power here about an hour ago. We're hoping that the water table doesn't rise otherwise we'll need to put on the generator to run the sump pump. Pray that the temp doesn't drop! Gotta go - hubby's turning off the modem! - Lynn
Wow - stay safe everyone!
we had a bunch of power outages in the area... and basically I am trapped due to the road on one end flooded and the other end has power lines down... not that we would be going anywhere on this nasty night
Temp 41.1°, Wind WSW 12.1 mph, Wchill 25.7°, no precip. ☺
Latest storm total here: 20.6 in. Wind gusts of 40 mph overnight.
DonnieBrook and threegardeners, this is the first season I'm trying this recipe, which I found in an old issue of Mother Earth News. You get this stuff at the Agway or feed store.
4 parts soybean meal
1 part bone meal
1/2 part kelp meal
1/2 part dolomitic lime
1/2 part agricultural lime
Wow- the sun! Did everyone remember to set their clocks? I hope all faired well from yesterdays deluge. Our upcoming week looks good...
Sunday...Sunny. Highs around 40. West winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts 30 to 35 mph.
Monday...Sunny. Highs around 40. West winds 10 to 15 mph.
Tuesday...Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday...Mostly sunny. A chance of flurries in the morning. Highs in the mid 40s.
Thursday...Mostly sunny. Highs around 50.
Friday...Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain. Highs in the upper 40s
Hi all, we got power back sometime around 4:45 this AM. Temp is 28 degrees and the wind is still blowing. Sump pump is cycling so the water table is high. I haven't checked to see if Fishkill Creek flooded the woods behind us, but wouldn't be surprised to find that it did. How did everyone else do?
Well the sun is out, wind still pretty blustery and the temp is just above freezing. Crazy day yesterday. Heavy rains and huge temp swings fogged up windows. Went from 38 to 64 in less than an hour. Wind gusts 50-55 mph took out a 70 ft. pine on the property line with my neighbor, luckily it fell due south parallel to her house, but the crunching noise so near after dark was a little unsettling. It could have been worse, we could have had all this stuff with snow like so many others did.
Hopefully, that was winter's last hurrah and it blew itself out...spring has to come now!!
I'll take it!!!
Ohio really got hit. They got over 20" of snow along with high winds. Lots of weather in the news this morning.
Well it's blustery and raw today but has stopped raining. Didn't get as much rain as they predicted but im not complaining...really! Lost maybe half of the snow, not enough to see ground yet but half is better than none!
LOL...you lost half the snow, we got another 24 inches!!!
Gee, im sorry Lee Ann....hope it warms up and melts soon!
Oh, but everything is sooo pretty, nice and crisp and clean...and white. It's like the world has been bleached...lol
Sorry about your snow, Lee Ann, but glad to see you so gleeful about the beautiful look of new snow.
32 and windy. 2 1/2 inches of rain total.
Temp 34.7°, Wind NW 20.1 mph, Wchill 11°, Sunny . ☺
Yeah! Those winds were (and still are) brutal!! We lost power for a bit last night, but it was while everyone was asleep, so no biggie.
The good thing is ... the Flood Warning has expired. We can even see a few breaks of sunshine here and there. The rest of the week should be pretty tame.
All of your rain & snow melt has ended up behind our dam! Doug & I could not believe the amount of water in the impoundment--& it's rushing out into the river in huge amounts, but the keepers must know what they are doing. Many folks were driving along the top oohing & ahhing--it's quite spectacular. It's 40 today, sunny--the wind is finally dying down. Lawn is littered with pine branches--Donnie, hope you are feeling better--our friend in the Ocala Hosp. has been diagnosed with lung cancer, & they are flying him back to CT.
