I read recently where a grower had crossed a Hippeastrum with a Clivia. I've got an indoor Hippeastrum about to bloom. I'd like to try my own hand at a cross. These are not supposed to cross, but Mother Nature doesn't always play by the rules. (Think Freeman Maple which is an Acer x freemani hybrid.) Anyway I've tried the local florists and green houses. Nothing ready to bloom. Any ideas?
If I can't locate any Clivia pollen I will put the Hippeastrum pollen in the fridg until the Clivia are available in these parts. Then save some Clivia pollen for next year's Hippeastrum bloom. No wonder growers patent their resulting offspring. It aint easy.
Looking for source of Clivia miniata pollen- Impossible?
Can't help you, but wish you luck!
