I was washing out some pots to plant seeds in with some soapy water and had set them aside to rinse when I thought: why bother?
Would a little soapy residue hurt seed germination? I haven't the faintest idea, but if ivory soap is good for your skin (as used to be advertised) would it bother roots? It might even lower the surface tension of the water which could even be good? Does anyone know?
Will soap hurt seeds?
I don't see why it would be a problem. I do bleach pots before I use them though. I don't go nuts, I just fill a sink with water and pour a little bleach in then i soak the pots for a few minutes. Should be enough to kill what ever may be embedded in the pots.
