February garden pictures

And I am again reminded to keep my deer photos to myself!

Great Photos Murmur just ignore them....lol

Thorne Bay, AK(Zone 6b)

Murmur-I don't hunt, which makes me an oddity in this town of 475 people. But I'm not against hunting-for food, not for trophy sport.Your deer look quite well & well fed.

I love your deer pictures. I have wild bunnies and squirrels that I feel the same about. I just love them. Keep the pics coming, they are gorgeous!

Sorry Murmur but you don't live where gardens are impossible. Unless a fence or a hunting licence.

No problem, Sofer - I know better than to share those, believe me. I guess today I was just overly tired and let my guard down.

Most beautiful creatures. I have worked as a veterinarian on one once to help it recover with an arrow wound. It did and choked on a potatoe. I should have told the people working on it to not give it obstructive fruit.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I'm not against hunting, either, as long as it's "fair". I think hunting deer with knife would be fine. That seems much more sporting. LOL

Glad you opted for the fence, Steve. And glad you are one of the gentler of our species as well, Ned.

Murmur, the more people who see your pictures, the more people who understand that animals are more than just trophies or food and that sometimes it's we who have to make the compromise (what - we don't always get our way?). So picture away. I love them.

This is safer, though - last evening and today were just full of rainbows . . . wish I could have gotten a photo of the one my daughter and I saw when we went to lunch today (she's up from California, staying at a friend's house . . . today was one of only two days I will have time with her) - it was one of the smallest as far as one end to the other that I have ever seen, but wide bands of color . . . it was in the little bay down below the restaurant - amazing!!! This photo was taken from my deck.

Just beautiful!

Murmur, I love the deer photos! I fear that I would be giving them handouts aplenty because they are so beautiful and I feel so badly that their habitat is getting gobbled up. We actually had a deer on our road a couple of months ago. We do NOT live in the country, I can tell you. I feel the same way about my moles as you do about your deer. I wouldn't harm them for the world. They areate my soil beautifully! I shared this opinion on another forum and knew the force of human discontent after that! I decided that forum was not for me.
I'm not against hunting, either, for food. And especially where deer populations are out of control, as they are in the northeast. I did most of my undergrad at Rutgers in the wildlife bio dept, which is basically run by hunters. Trophy hunting, imho, is completely out-dated. And don't even get me started on using guns to hunt sea mammals. I cannot even imagine the thinking process that goes into this practice.
Enough about that. I'm going to bed before we get into trouble by the DG police.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Murmur - I love your photos. Please don't edit out topic because they are controversial. Sofer has a view - that's all. There is no censor here. Post with pride.

I just get hungry when you post them. It makes me drool. I just saw a movie on IFC that was nothing but a weekend of 10 guys drinking beer and competing for stuff that always had a start with a beer guzzle and ended with a beer guzzle. Some of the competitions were nothing more than how fast you can drink a six pack. Lots of "raulfing" to get the next one down. Yes What a movie!!!! You can see murmur that I have total class when it comes to my opinion. LOL
