when I see the images of waterflees on the web they don't look like that at all...
They must be very common though, but I haven't a clue what direction I should look for these tiny water creatures. They do jump and are loved (as a meal) by my waternewts. Their size is hardly one millimeter, so it's very difficult to get a decent photo.
These picts are very heavily cropped;
CLOSED: I always thought these were waterflees, but they are not..
Hurray!! I found it!
They are springtails; Podura aquatica .

Well done bonitin. It would be great to have your images added to BugFiles. Because it is a new family for BugFiles, I have created the entry for your springtails here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5036/
When you have added your images, I will be able to use one to illustrate the family, and since we have no previous images of any springtails, I will be able to use one to illustrate the Springtail order, the Collembola in the top level of the index,
Kennedy
Thank you Kennedyh!
The problem is though when I try to add the picts the copyright is so awfully big and really disturbs, probably because they are so heavily cropped. I would like to remove the copyright from these particular picts, how do I do that?
To suspend the copyright, go to your own page (click My Info0 in the second heading line.
From this page one of the options is Manage your preferences.. Click this,
On the right hand side of that page is a list of Preferences, which includes Copyrights. Click this!
Click on the circle in front of No Method. If you don't want copyright messages at all, just check this box and click submit.
and then click on submit.
Ant picture you submit now will have no copyright overlay.
After you have completed these image, you might want to go back through this process and reset to Method 1 copyright,
Good luck,
Ken
Thanks Kennedyh,! I will try it out tomorrow..
