Outside Arrangements?

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Wow, they sure are lovely. My garden roses although just one bush, was never good with roses, it doing well in the heat and humidity here as well. Am surprised as in years past actually thought at times the entire bush had croaked.

I have been rooting the prunings to make more rose bushes around the garden, most have taken, some are even flowering!

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Terri, cool using the foam to insert the flowers into the hat. Candee, may I see the vase without the flowers by the mirror?

Thanks Karma.

Everyone in our house was out today. Peace! I spent the day pottering around the garden enjoying myself.
Candee, I noticed the Red Valerian is not so good this year. I cut it all down, hope the second flush comes back better.

Very nice Terri, really like the candles so soothing. Yes Karma will take a pic when I dump this arrangement. It is a little brass 3 tier kinda thing. I love it, but it does need polished so don't look too close when I post it please.
Terri, my red valerian has bloomed great, but just not keeping in the arrangements like it has in years past.

Thanks Candee.

I like your 'figure this one out'... Fantastic idea! how did you do it??? Tell all, dear friend haha!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

First I had to find a big tree, with a big knot in it. Then I had to carve out a nice flat area and let the sap and water drain, then I had to gently place the glass vase inside the trunk ------ ohhhhhh, who am I kidding, it is a treetrunk frame around the photo then I erased part of it to give it the 3 dimensional effect!

london England, United Kingdom

You nearly had me there, I thought you had been wood carving for sure!
It's a photo trick, very clever!!
BTW, it's karma who wants to see your 3 tier container empty!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I knew I should have gone back and read the thread when unsure, but I obviously didn't do that!

Oh, I just love yellow, that certainly puts a smile on my face, so cheery!

Thanks Candee!
Would love to see some more outside arrangements or containers!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I will try to get more posted this afternoon. Been so busy working on the Longwood photos and then made a couple arrangements after breadmaking yesterday and today is first day back to work.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Tried something new and must leave it out as I am not sure the stone dish will hold the water and would not want a wet table inside.

Beautiful! and Stunning in that setting. A treat this evening, thanks Candee.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks and I had just finished mowing the lawn LOL!

london England, United Kingdom

It would look nice with some caladium leaves in it LoL!!!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

LOL, great idea Terri, I just hope I have some that have a hint of that peachy/pink in them? Hum, do you have a couple I could borrow?

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Terri, where was I when you posted that arrangement with the russian vine. I just love it! So romantic with all the candles. I bet your garden parties are just fabulous.

Candee, love the vase in the "knot of the tree". Very pretty. Is that a dahlia in your latest arrangment? Drop dead gorgeous. Lovely arrangement to accompany your garden. Thanks for the peek into your garden. I loved seeing it.

I'm a little late with the sweet pea topic. I had some blooming when it was cooler, but I didn't let it climb on anything at first because the seed packet said no staking required. I started to intertwine it onto my fence after it started flopping over. I didn't care for it too much but I will try again next year using the bamboo stakes like you did, Terri. The seeds were super easy to grow, so I will love to try again.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Thanks karma, my dahlias are quite a treat in my gardens. I have some of the dinner plate ones and others are cactus dahlias and yes that is one in the arrangement above.

I was quite disappointed in the sweet peas that I have. The ones in too much sun croaked and the ones in the larger pot that I inserted bamboo stakes for are quite viney, but have only produced 1 blue flower, one red and one white? They are nothing like the ones that Terri has that are full of blooms. But I would never have known if not for trying.

london England, United Kingdom

Thanks Karma, the sweet peas have had it now, so I'm just leaving them to produce seeds, for next year.

Outside arrangement, here's my ginger tree!

LOL, we musta both had yellow on the brain this evening Terri! That is very pretty and the ginger in the distance is quite an eyeful of beauty. Don't you just love the gardens and the outdoor arranging. I just replaced what was croaking in this one, yep the same caladium you suggested. The cactus dahlia reminds me of a water lily.

Nice, Candee and Terri. What kind of ginger plant is that Terri? I don't dare put anything outside here since it is still very hot. Expected high of 103 degrees. Ugh.

london England, United Kingdom

Looks lovely, the dahlia does look like a waterlily!

It's a bunch of ginger flowers I bought at the florists, the girl asked if I wanted the stems cut, I said NO thankyou!
I tied them together to a make a tree! I'm going to play about with them for a whlie until I leave them to dry.

Very pretty! Does the arrangement last long in the yellow stuff? What is it by the way?

london England, United Kingdom

Thanks Karma, they are water crystals. The coloured balls change the colour of the water when they are first hydrated.
I added some plastic re-usable ice cube (fruit shapes). It should last the normal amount of time.

Here's a mix of yellow and red.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I am beginning to think my favorite color is yellow. What a nifty idea as well with the reusable ice cubes, you think of everything gal!

london England, United Kingdom

Thanks Candee, I think yellow grows on you, I never used to like yellow flowers much, but they always come out bright and cheerful in the photos.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I agree friend, never much liked it myself until this year, has a whole new appearance for some reason and now I am really likin it
