Will any of you be willing to id mounted butterflies of exotic kinds? Or is there rules or ethnic issues as I am only seeing insects alive or dead in their "natural" environment posted pictures on this website.
Some of the mounted insects have no name and it have been a pain to id them since books are limited and tend to repeat the same species over and over again like Lycorea sp.. I got them mainly from different stores - farmed butterflies or second hand (thrift shop or even garage sales). The second hand have some collections which was sold by some company in the 1970s or earlier - have uncommon butterflies. I have 5 to 6 of them - framed in very dark varnished wood with some dry decoration ( I never did like the dry decoration but are more interested in the butterflies) . I have a few pictures from one such second hand. There are two butterflies in it. I am only posting a picture of the bottom one for now - I can post more if you want - the top butterfly look like Trogonoptera trojana but have more green in hindwing - almost solid green but the bottom one had been maddening hard to id - clearly a birdwing but have unusual id points intp it is both white, dark morpho blue, and neon green on black background. I'm looking at the book, The Butterfly Handbook by Dr. Lee D. Miller and Dr. Jacqueline Y. Miller. I just learned a few minutes ago that female birdwings can be different from males in coloring so is the bottom one a female?
CLOSED: Mounted Butterflies id?
It appears to be a female Rajah Brooke's Birdwing(Troides brookiana, aka Ornithoptera brookiana; Trogonoptera brookianus; Trogonoptera brookiana; Trogonoptera brookana brookiana) it was first discovered in Northern Borneo, near Sarawak.

Yes it really look like one - all the id points checked out. I double checked by websearch the common name beside checking your hyperlink and found it! I never knew the sexes were complete different until just before I posted this. I should have speed up the id process by posing the male too. It's considered protected in its native habitation. Thanks you - I'm very graceful as that one was very tough to id. I checked and there were no Rajah Brooke's Birdwing on bugfiles so can someone set it up?
