Corny Cornus

I've been working on a Cornus reference image for landscapers & nurseries at work. Let me know what you honestly think of this. I can never remember what the difference is between them as its mostly burgundy or a shade of. I could use some criticism.

Nice idea!

The names need clarifying a bit - are they cultivar names, or taxon names? Also likely sibirica, not siberica.

A dark background would be better.

Thanks Resin. I'll differentiate on the species/cultivar names and make that change. I tried the dark background but I didn't like it so I'll do another one and flip the colours and see what you think. Do the colours look right or are they too bright/over exposed to you?

Thanks! I'm thinking perhaps a darkish green-brown background (like a natural background of foliage, tree trunks, etc), rather than black, might be best.

I'd say the current pic is a bit over-exposed

I like the layout, and remember that most people plant these to contrast against white snow, but of course that's up to you. You might also consider susceptibility to leaf spot, canker, and other diseases that make choice more limited in certain climates and for some people. (Ex: I ripped out my planting of 'Kelseyi' because of leaf spot.) Also, don't forget to include 'Midwinter Fire', possibly aka 'Winter Flame', in the Cornus sanguinea group. Spectacular! And with almost no disease problems, usually considered serious disease-free.

Thanks. I want 'Midwinter Fire' but don't have access to branches...yet. That would make it complete. I guess I'll have to take the pics again as I think I over-exposed them a bit. The audience I'm going for is landscapers, designers & architects as a sales tool from the nursery and I always forget what the difference is with the colours. What do ya think the title should be?

Those are fine photos -- I imagine you ought only illustrate those you intend to sell/have available, which also ought to be the best ones for your region.

A holiday-type background (conifers, snow, maybe reindeer - just no skinny Santas) should generate interest.

Bluestem Nursery uses a black background for their Salix stems.

I think light blue would be a good color to try.

That's one place I was taking this idea from. I'll try a few more background colours and add them here. I still need to retake the pics as I think the colour is off. Too over-exposed.
