Hello friends,
This strange looking but rather colorful spider was captured close to the river's edge. The background of this image is actually the water in the river.
Spiders are predatory invertebrate animals that have two body segments, eight legs, no chewing mouth parts and no wings. They are classified in the order Araneae, one of several orders within the larger class of arachnids. ~Wikipedia.
Argiope aurantia, - Commonly called "garden spiders," these orb weavers can be almost 3 inches long from leg tip to leg tip. Argiope spiders are very common in backyard gardens. Although they are large and intimidating, their bite is only dangerous to people who experience severe allergic reactions to insect and spider bites.

Garden Spider
jusni,
I am sorry it has been so long before you got a reply, but I have finally discivered the identity of your spider.
It is indeed an Argiope, but not Argiope aurantia as you suggest.
Argiope aurantia is only found in North and Central America. I assume that your spider was photographed in Malaysia.
I believe that your spider is a female of Argiope catenulata. It matches very closely to this image: http://flickr.com/photos/ehktang/1931109219/in/set-72157601649149730/
We would very much like to have your spider image added to BugFiles, and I have created an entry for Argiope catenulata here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5066/
