Wow - must be nice work. Do you have a pic of one?
Recieved garden catalog 15 today
Didn't you see the fish he posted, Al?
No, I was probably watching The View or something ;)
Oh, I did'nt know he carved the fish too!... I'd be churning out those little duckies like hotcakes on a flat iron griddle! ☺
I had unwatched this thread because Dr. Phil was on..............I haven't altered the colors on any of my PF pics. I have them come out wrong on my camera now and then and still can't fix 'em right.LOL
That's not a duck!
Reminds me of a fish I once.........saw.
That happened to me too with my camera, then I did something and they started to come out right again... must have been the O2 sensor or something... ☺
I haven't checked the blinker fluid on mine come to think of it.
Oh Man I hi jacked my own thread........................sorry
those are fantastic! i don't think you can hijack something you started...

Does he have candles on his hat?
Yes, not lit though.
pssst: it's not mine.
whew!
What an, er, interesting piece of yard art it is. Why does he have candles on his hat? And it looks like he still has both ears.
OMG - that is TOO funny!
What is this place? A house, a gallery, a ___? How many artists do they have? i love that Warhol is eating his soup.
Poem by Billy Collins:
Candle Hat
In most self-portraits it is the face that dominates:
Cezanne is a pair of eyes swimming in brushstrokes,
Van Gogh stares out of a halo of swirling darkness,
Rembrant looks relieved as if he were taking a breather
from painting The Blinding of Sampson.
But in this one Goya stands well back from the mirror
and is seen posed in the clutter of his studio
addressing a canvas tilted back on a tall easel.
He appears to be smiling out at us as if he knew
we would be amused by the extraordinary hat on his head
which is fitted around the brim with candle holders,
a device that allowed him to work into the night.
You can only wonder what it would be like
to be wearing such a chandelier on your head
as if you were a walking dining room or concert hall.
But once you see this hat there is no need to read
any biography of Goya or to memorize his dates.
To understand Goya you only have to imagine him
lighting the candles one by one, then placing
the hat on his head, ready for a night of work.
Imagine him surprising his wife with his new invention,
the laughing like a birthday cake when she saw the glow.
Imagine him flickering through the rooms of his house
with all the shadows flying across the walls.
Imagine a lost traveler knocking on his door
one dark night in the hill country of Spain.
"Come in, " he would say, "I was just painting myself,"
as he stood in the doorway holding up the wand of a brush,
illuminated in the blaze of his famous candle hat.
Billy Collins
Big City, Very cool.....However Van Gogh Paints are crap paints, so I wonder what kinda of artist he really was.LOL
Neat poem!
Billy Collins is a fun poet and definitely my favorite.
My uncle has amazing talent in carving, painting, woodburning and anything else that he puts his mind to. I am in awe of anyone with that kind of talent. My eyes can appreciate it, but my hand won't follow...
Sorry responding so late to this thread....
I haven't gotten that many this year and I was wondering why. I hate the catalogs that don't have a real picture, how can anyone order an item when you don't even know what it really looks like?
If you don't want to receive a certain catalog you can go on this website and they'll do all the work for you, it's free.

Jen, I think that if you know flowers well enough to know what you want, those illustrated catalogs might not be bad, because you know what they're going to look like anyways.
Personally, I prefer photos - they accept my drool much better!
Anybody going to order from Territorial Seeds? I foorgot something and I don't want to pay the shipping cost for one seed packet.
Jen, I just cancelled 20 catalogs that get sent here as junk! Thank you so much!!!!
The ones i get too many of are, of course, the ones that haven't signed up for the opt-out list.
Yes, thanks for that link, Jen.
You're welcome.
