Deer Eating My Arborvitae.

Gardener105, Hi, your hedge is looking good. What was the product you have been using to keep the deer away?

Wow - what a fabulous difference! That is so encouraging, don't you think?

Willow, It was a homemade remedy of 1 gal water, 1/4 cup Louisiana Hot Sauce, 1/4 cup Chipotle Tabasco Sauce, 2 Tbls. Cayenne Pepper and 1/4 cup Elmers Glue for a sticker. It smelled HOT! I only had to apply it twice, I think once would have been enough but it rained about a week after I applied it and decided I should give it another shot. I just used a tank sprayer to apply it and there was enough to cover the all 18 plants twice! I haven't seen the deer in the yard since, not even at night. I think even the smell kept them away. Thank goodness.
Murmur, Thank you and yes I do!
lady, I would be happy to send them north for you, but I don't think they'll listen. LOL!!
Here's a pic of the ones at the south end of the house then.

And here's a pic of them now. The one on the far right has been replaced and the one that I replaced it with froze a little since they were from the valley (I got it at Costco) and I should have kept it in the barn for a few nights before planting it, but it is coming back.

Not only did the eat your Arborvitae, but they ate a lot of it. That's kind of crazy.

I know and I was told by a Nursery owner that deer didn't eat Arborvitae, boy was she WRONG!! I also used to work for her and she also told me that plants didn't like to go to bed with their feet wet and that Chrysanthemums were an annual. How intelligent is that?
