55? No way! :-)
That's a great hairstyle on you... frames your face without drawing attention away from your smile and dancing eyes!
Totally Off Topic But Your Opinions Matter To Me :)
Wow, thank you Critter. Old ladies love compliments like that! With curly hair there are a lot of options.
Seriously, I'd have guessed your age at maybe a couple years more than mine, and I just turned 43... "old ladies"... pppfffffftttttt! LOL
*sigh* wishing my hair were curly!
Another Sally!
SallyD, I guess you're a little far away to drive down to Frederick tomorrow... but we're having a DG get-together & seed swap thing! (See MidAtlantic forum for details.) Wish I could meet you in person!
Curls.
Gail- D-mail me the name of your plastic surgeon..... Ummmm,I wonder if he would take plants for payment?........
I just had to do that for fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! I not only am fat but have never had any cosmetic surgery. I am too big of a coward to even have a shot put in my face.................couldn't pass up a chance for some fun...............The truth is I called my sister in law and asked her if she had any pics of any of my kids or her kids (still laffin'). This surgeon would gladly trade for plants but you won't get anything in return but my worn out body.
gail
Gail, you are cute as a button! Sally
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!! Sally knows me and she knows I am lying through my teeth!! (LOL)
Love it Gail!
..... and, there are a few of us in the same boat ... not spring chickens anymore and I for one am carrying around a few "extra" pounds, and those extra pounds are not a baby on my hip, LOL.)
This is the most recent pic of my hubby and me, taken this past Christmas. I am going to be 60 soon and I would dearly LOVE to be able to afford a nip & tuck but I am soooo scared of any kind of surgery! I have never been in a hospital or had any surgery in my life, other than some minor dental surgery. I too am a BIG CHICKEN when it comes to needles and the thought of surgery. I hate my wrinkly chicken neck, which is hidden by a turtleneck in this photo, LOL. Oh, and I will admit too that the wrinkly, roly, poly belly is hidden by "Miss Princess" - wasn't it convenient that she decided to lay on my lap when the pic was taken?
As you can see, I have very straight hair! Would love some of those curls Kim has!! I do wear my hair long, always have but not as long as it is right now ... I need a haircut badly, am kinda in between hairdresser's right now. I have had a few good ones over the years ... one married and moved up north, another had to quit working because of health problems and the last one took a managerial job and is not doing hair anymore. :(
Ok ... C'mon y'all - post your picture so we can put a face to the name of those we chat with every day! I feel like I've known some of you for years just from our DG chatting!
That is a precious picture of you and hubby. You are NOT overweight.......just perfect and you certainly don't look your age! (That is my favorite expression of my fat.........roly, poly belly and I do have that)
I don't have a picture taken since last summer. When I get one I will share my roly poly tummy and my neck and face wrinkles which have never seen a needle or a knife (LOL)
You can't post if you don't have a picture............when you see mine, you will feel fantastic and young again (LOL)
Thank you Miss Gail ... I do remember a photo you posted with you and one of your grand kids last year ... and you do not look your age at all! I would dearly LOVE to have your skin! Living in Florida I have not taken care of mine as I should have. Back in the 60's and 70's we didn't know about protecting our skin from the sun. I can remember laying on the beach all day ... no sunscreen back then, it was pure baby oil! It amazes me now to think that I was so stupid! During the summer hubby and I are out on the boat at times but I use sunscreen at all times as well as a hat, and I try to limit the time I am in the sun ... which is kinda hard to do sometimes in the summer when there's yard work that has to be done every week! I just wish I had known about sun damage earlier ... maybe I would have that porcelain smooth skin. I know there is dermabrasion and other stuff being done nowadays but I am too chicken to do it.
Gail you SILLY GOOSE *lol*....that was GREAT!
I have seen pictures of you too Gail and you are beautiful and certainly don't look your age.
Lin, I won't believe you are 60! Goodness I hope to look as beautiful as you ladies do at your ages.
Lin, I never realized what you looked like. You are a very pretty lady.
Sally, this goes for you too, very pretty!
I'm amazed at how young you all look. Growing must keep you young. If that's the case, I need more to grow *lol*
It's SO wonderful to wake up and pour my coffee and see all your smiling faces! Really starts the morning out right to have friends smiling at you first thing in the morning.
WOW is all I can say, Sally and Lin....GREAT pictures and Gail, I know what you look like and you are so pretty too with your sparkling eyes and heart warming smile!
Thanks for brightening my morning everyone :) So nice to SEE you :)
Kim
Gail,
You are too funny. Nice picture though. You sound like me. I take so many pics of my little ones and flowers, but hardly have any of myself. I will try to get one taken one of these days.
Lin,
Beautiful pic of you and hubby. I keep my hair long also, at 52. I've been so tempted to get it cut, but won't. It's straight too, but I used to pay big bucks for the curls! And 60? No way! You're gorgeous.
You ladies have a great day.
Laura
Wonderful photos, Sally & Lin!!
:-)
Y'all are so nice, Thank you for the compliments. Some days I feel 60, some days I feel 16 (well, maybe not that young), some days I feel maybe 36, and then there are the days I feel about 96! Usually though, when my mind feels 36 ... the old body doesn't ever seem to agree ... the arthritis kicks in pretty quickly any more. Just gotta keep movin or I will rust for sure!
SallyD: Welcome to the AV forum. You will love it here. Great group of people in our little corner of the Garden! That's a great pic .... and you certainly don't look 55! I love the highlights in your hair - my haircolor is so bad cause I've been doing it myself for so many years. I really would love to let my natural color grow out and then have a professional just do highlights for me but I can never get to the stage where enough natural color is showing for them to do it. I've tried a number of times but when I get to that two inches of brown and mostly grey I just can't stand it and end up coloring it myself.
I see we have another young un in the group! Miss Sally, you are precious ... and so is that pup in your arms! Another Texas gal who has that Beautiful baby soft skin I see!
Sempervi/Laura: Yes, please get a photo to post of yourself! I just love being able to put the face to the name of those we chat with every day!
Aren't we a great group here? When I joined DG I never would have thought I'd spend most of my time on any one particular forum but have found this to be the one I call home and spend most of my time here when I'm in this Garden! The African Violet Garden is just the best ... kind friends with great faces, lovely plants and big hearts!
Thanks Critter! I've seen your photo on your articles pages and you are a true Knock Out! Beautiful face and gorgeous long hair! And, I can't believe you are 43 ... you look more like 30!
Beautiful Gail! Your face looks as creamy smooth as those young ones you are with in that photo!
Gail, I just LOVE that picture of you with all the girls.
Look how happy they are to be in your presence :)
You bring such life and vitality to all of those around you.
I could just "squeeze" you my friend........I can't help but smile from ear to ear when I see your happy face :)
Jess asked me last night if I had a picture of you and I couldn't find one so I can't wait to show her this tonight as she thinks you are just the neatest lady :) She loves your accent and tries to "do" the accent thing. It's SO cute. She thinks it's neat that you always think she's me.
You truly touch all those you meet my friend :)
Not only a wonderful grower, but a dear dear soul!
XO
Don'tcha just love that Texas drawl!!
BIG time *lol*
To others I may sould like I have an accent but I just LOVE listening to people who have accents. I could just hang on to each word.
Love Australian and English accents too :)
And the accent seems to come so flawlessly. It's awesome!
Lin, could you tell the size of the sinningias on Dave's site.............I am curious to see what you thought....................I haven't gotten my order but everyone seems to say he has the biggest and best besides Beslisle's. I forgot to mention them and they are just as good as Dave.
Sally,
I missed your pic earlier...love your hair...and beautiful smile. Thanks for joining us here. Some really, really nice people here.
Gail,
Absolutely beautiful picture. Love your hair too. I keep saying if I was brave I would have mine that length. Are those all of your granddaughters? No boys? Amazing, they are all just as beautiful as grandma.
Laura
I have 5 grandchildren........just two of the girls went to camp and have been going since they were 7 years old. It is for 5 weeks but they love it. I went to the same camp as did their mom. The boys go to a day camp as they are younger than the girls. One of the girls is still too young for camp.
My hair is much longer than that right now........our wind is so strong I just want to be able to pull the top back with a clip and keep it out of my face..........
A friend just sent these pics to me of the Parrot flower.........amazing that God could create anything this beautiful. Remember that they are NOT my pictures and seem to be of another language.
That photo is going around the parrot forums. I have a tiny parrot and I WISH we could buy that flower. I think it is rare and not for sale. Wonder if anyone is trying to grow it where it comes from. Stunning.
Gail,
You took the words out of my mouth. I don't know how many times when I've seen a beautiful new av bloom or my iris blooms and just say, "Lord, You are amazing!" Then there are those little faces surrounding you and you know how totally amazing He truly is!!!
Blessings to all,
Laura

Thanks Sally!
Did I mention that's my 'natural hair'? At least that's what it says on the box- Natural Blonde! LOL
And I'm keeping my long hair too, Lin!
