oohhh that sounds nice
:)
Howdy all!
Heck, I'll just pitch a tent!
Welcome, Steve. Glad to have you aboard.
Hi Steve! Welcome to Dave's Garden and especially, a warm hearty welcome to the Northeast Forum! I'm Harper. Don't worry about talking about non-gardening things. It's normal, and entirely accepted. Didn't you notice we have a thread on the Superbowl? Sorry about the Patriots, man... well, not that sorry. We do have rules about what we shouldn't talk about... you know, the general: no swearing, no politics and no religion. I think it's a good idea. We're a very friendly bunch here. Welcome to the group!
Your place sounds beautiful. How did you move those enormous boulders? The trout ponds and apple orchards must be wonderful!
Harper
Welcome to Steve, from the gorgeous state of Vermont.
Your place is going to be beautiful. At least it's nicer to move the heavy stuff in your cooler climate.
Polly
Welcome from me and the cats.
Thanks a million to everyone, I cannot tell a lie, I cheated, I used a caterpillar escavator to do all the boulders, I love rocks as you will be able to see as we go on. I was a heavy equipment operator in the Navy Seabees, cames in handy. Property is always open for visits...to all, Its kinda funny...because I want to put in a waterwheel on the side of a cottage overlooking the second pond, just not sure that will happen this year. Anyway I am trying to post a couple more pics tonight Last night it shut me down, I was on a roll..
Harper, I am actually a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan of 30 years, I am glad the Pats lost, but my family is not! LOL
Great shots, Steve. Are you from Pittsburgh originally? I loved the 70's Steelers, even though i was a Jets fan first.
No Victor, I am actually a Mainer, My wife is the Vermonter, met in the service, I was also a fanatic in the 70's, what teams they were.
Welcome to the NE forum Steve. You're already good in my book as Steves are my favorites. Fav brother, fav trainer, fav siberian iris and maybe fave invermontdirt place to visit LOL I had trout once for dinner, very delicious but had to watch for the bones as I remember. Have a great time here!
And, Steve and Victor...what is water on the knee? I think I might have it.
If your knees have some swelling and are very, very painful, and the swelling feels like fluid, you probably, have water on the knees and you can have it removed......slightly painful, bad news with a needle, they draw it off. In my experience, it reoccurs. You could also like me have some arthritis. Get it checked, by your doctor, you will feel much better...Steve
Steve, looks like you've been busy. What are you going to plant around there?
Hi Steve! Nice to have you with us!! I have really enjoyed looking at your pics! Nice job! You have a wonderful place there, and it looks like you are having a lot of fun making it your own! I can really relate to your well story! During the warm 6 months of the year, my DH live on a first settlers farm in NH, and we had one of those wonderful dug wells.........Yes....we, too, ran out of water every August or September, until we had a deep well dug. Lucky you! Ours cost a ton!! But now we do have good water and plenty of it! I did some quick thinking when they had the yard torn up and asked how much it would be to run a water line up to my garden area. That was the best $100 I ever spent!!
Very funny - your apologizing for talking about something other than gardening!!! LOL As someone else said....just stick around and you'll get a chuckle pretty quick about that apology of yours!! This is a smart and funny gang from all over....and we have NO PROBLEM getting off the subject with relish! I've noticed some people on other forums get sort of cranky when that happens, but frankly, I think it is what makes this forum so interesting and fun. I guess most of us are stream of consciousness types and not too hung up on rigidity! LOL (But fair warning - Carrie does get hung up over the mis-use of the apostrophe and it drives her wild!!! ...just kidding, Carrie....but you know it does!! LOL)
Just keep sharing whatever you want with us....we all love a good peak into each other's environs! And yours looks awesome!!
I'm in Florida now for the winter, and here's a little bloom from this morning - just to say welcome!
Louise
Sofonisba, There is a crab apple going in, there are 150 plus tulips there and there is several peonies, there will be several dwarf conifers, I like siberian spruces, I have 6 on the property now and like them, The tree in the front of the pavillion is a weeping birch. There are some sherbert garden phloxs around the well fountain, and there are 40 plus oriental lillies in the stome planters around the pavillion, probably this spring will add some ferns, junipers and a hardy azalea I found on line. I also have four diffrent species of cone flowers coming that might go somewhere there as well, Directly around the pond, I have some siberian iris and oriental iris on order. See what I mean about out of control.....Steve
Hi, Steve. just stopped by to give you a hearty welcome. I've thoroughly enjoyed your pics, of your property and your trout carving (excellent!). If you run out of projects, I'm sure I could find something here to keep you occupied LOL
I think I'd be happy to have ONE of your apple trees. they sound great. I do have 6 blueberry bushes coming in the spring. and I also have a rock garden in progress with some dwarf conifers. It's just that everything here has to be on a much smaller scale. I'll really be looking forward to lots of pics from you. never too many. we all love 'em.

You'll find the NE forum folk famously friendly.
