CLOSED: Webby crusts on deodora cedar

Willow Spring, NC(Zone 7b)

I was tipping my deodora cedar today, and saw many crotches encrusted with webby excrement. Not spider mites. Almost borer-like, however I didn'tsee any tell tale holes. The tree looks pretty healthy, good color etc. Any ideas? Is this something I need to treat?

Could you get a picture of the webbing? Does it look anything like webworm silks (tent caterpillars)? I'd touch it to see if it feels like caterpillar silks or more like actual spider webs. Some spiders make trails of webbing against tree bark...

I'm familiar with web worms, tent caterpillars, and spider mites. The webbing is fine, much like that of spider mites, but there is definitely an excrement like substance amongst the webbing. I have a digital camera, but I have to admit I'm new to the picture/link thing. I'll give it a try, but it might be a few days. Thanks for your interest!

Does it look like this?....

Sounds like Bark Lice (Archipsocus nomas ). No problem...won't bother tree.
