CLOSED: Another mystery critter...

State College, PA

Hi folks!
Unfortunately I don't have a pic of my new housemates, but will upload one as soon as I get another sighting. These critters look like a cross between a shield bug and a giant water bug (my amateur guess after looking over the images!) and are dull black in color. The body is slightly pointed in a diamond shape with a thin flat back. About an inch in length, maybe a bit smaller. They must have wings, as I often hear them clicking before I see them. Very docile - I can pick up whatever they are on and walk them outside (I don't like to kill 'em) and they don't even move. I've lived here 7 years (I'm in central PA, if that helps) and never seen them, but in the last 1-2 months have seen about 10 in the house. I've got a new baby and just want to make sure that they are harmless! Many thanks for any help y'all can offer!

It's very early to tell but have you omitted cockroaches? They can be household pests and there are several species - some are black.

Someone mentioned stink bugs - could that be a possibility? (Still no photo, my apologies!)

we have had several stink bugs in the house last month- or the same one dummy keeps coming back. They are also slow and docile. Most cokroaches are fast when the light hits them, with very long thin antennae.
Stink bugs have short antennae. See if this is hte aapproximate shape, ignore the color
