This is a sinningia species that Jan grew from seed. Look at all her buds. I have no idea what the blooms will look like as we don't know the name of her.

I still love Thumbelina. When she gets big she might have 20 or 25 blooms on her at once.

Beautiful, Gail! All of them! I just found a Thumbelina baby that I didn't know I had! It's a beautiful one, and I feel like I hit the jackpot finding it hiding on my shelf! LOL

Gail, did you see that I have Sunlit babies now! I am thrilled. I hope they keep growing to be big and fat!

(Zone 1)

Gail's first photo: Definitely Aeschynanthus "Lipstick Plant"
Second phto: Definitely Hoya ... looks to be ds-70
Third photo: Definitely Hoya ... looks to be kentiana

Here's a close up picture I just went out and took of my ds-70 for comparison:

Thanks everyone and I love that big ds-70!! Hope mine grows big and has that wonderful color bloom!!!!!

Sally, I have to back and see your Sunlit (I think) babies..........I don't have any yet.

I have to show you all that Raingazer sent me a lot of unusual columneas and aeschycanthus small cuttings and they are growing like wildfire. I need now to take the bigger ones and take cuttings and start 6" pots under light. (my camera hates my fake lighting)

Here is Columnea 'Krakatia' I think.......is it spelled right Rain?

I don't remember. I just mentioned it somewhere. I am so glad. I had wondered what was taking so long, then there were the babies! I have babies on those leaves and my one Peppermint Girl. This the the Peppermint Girl. I love the girl leaf.

Gail, that is Columnea 'Krakatau' and the one that's growing flat is Columnea citrina. (In some places it is Trichantha or Tricantha, but I believe it has been moved to the Columnea genus recently.)

I'm getting a list together of what I have for several people, Gail, so I'll send you a list of what Streps I have and you can pick what you want. ^_^ You know I'm always more than happy to share whatever I've got!

Nancy, your Streps are gorgeous! I love Night Beacon. I think I have a baby of that, but I'll have to check. Hope so! LOL

what kind of editing are you using to print the names on that picture and give it a background? I was given photo element shop thingy but I am sending it back to the nice giver as I don't want to learn how to use it.................

gotta fold laundry or do something constructive..............

South, TX

I already did something constructive, ha. I'm playing now. I have been outside planting little zinnia's. I will show some pics.

I use Paint Shop Pro8. I LOVE it. SO much fun.

Here are some plants I planted.

Here is where they went. I have lots left to put out. I planted tons of caladium bulbs the other day. Been outside a lot.

This area has to fill out with the new zinnia's. I took out the begonias.

Took this after coming inside. Orchids in the sunroom.

Sally, your yard is absolutely amazing! Really beautiful! I love, love, love that fountain, too. We have a little square bed right by our back door, off the side of the patio, that I would like to put a fountain in. I planted it with some nice things last year, but I really think a fountain would jazz it up quite nicely. Sounds like a project for my husband to me. ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Don't you just love the Profusion series of zinnias. I got my sister in law planting many flats of them in a big bed she has. They bloomed their silly heads off all hot summer long. Your alyssum looks great for us to be having temps near 90 right now.........they won't last long but love them while they look so nice......

I love to be outside. The hummers and other birds love the yard. I feed in three areas for the birds and two feeders are up for hummers. They eat the flower nectar too. I was working this morning with birds eating. A pair of gorgeous Cardinal's ate too. I just felt so wonderful out there!

Gail, the allysum have been there all fall, winter and spring. They do still look great. When they get too hot, they will be replaced, ha.

I had allysum ALLLLL year and never had to replace in CA. Even in hot weather. They must not mind being hot and dry. They reseeded and I had to pull them out because they were growing too well! Odd how they do not grow here in summer like in Bakersfield. I use a lot of penta's in summer. I put some in front the other day.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

My cousin lived in Bakersfield for 5 years and she said it was very arid with high desert conditions. The only thing she could keep pretty were roses and she did have more gorgeous roses than I have ever seen.

Now she lives in Utah at the base of a ski resort and can't grow anything outside so she has gro lights all over the house for herbs as she is a fabulous cook.........really really gourmet chef.

South, TX

Hum, I had a cottage type garden there. I grew everything. The soil is amazing. Roses do grow well. They get huge and the color is perfect! I never sprayed in my rose garden. I grew huge abution's and every flower under the sun. Full sun on much of the yard as it was a brand new home. I drew out the garden design and it was fun. Did that in this back yard too since it was a blank slate, just trees and lawn and an ugly patio we took out and replaced with flagstone and planting beds.

Bakers. was great for gardening. The nurseries are nice too. I could just put a tomato or vine seed in the ground and it grew. Here, there is so much clay. I will have to scan pics. of my yard there. I didn't have a digital camera 7 years ago.
