We have a small conifer that's dead at the top. It seems to be doing okay now but it's unsightly, is there anyway to make it aesthetically pleasing again?
Dead at the top
Remove the top or the entire plant. That's the biggest downside to conifers - they just don't recover from a topping. Last year we had a significant windstorm which topped many conifers. Recovery just doesn't happen with most.
I think I'll have to dig it up and replant it in the woods. I don't think the animals will mind!
Before you go do that, see what everyone else says and do you have a pic? Which conifer is it?
With all my imperfections I relate to my gardens imperfections. I would leave it and enjoy it's unique character.
They can recover well when still young and if only a short top is dead.
If it is older, or with a large dead top, not so good.
Resin
It's young, like 3 ft. It's a miniature alberta spruce.
