Dori, your babies are very nice. I also like your March 1 idea. That is when I put away the few snowmen that are sitting around the house. Figure I am done with snow by then.
gevely, sorry about your roof. That must have been a horrible surprise. Hope the guys get the problem fixed quickly.
Thought it was really cold yesterday, but the therm show minus 3 this morning. UGH.
Dog ran on his walk yesterday and was at the house waiting to be let in when I got back. He layed by the fire all day.
Are ya'll ready for S-N-O-W?part 4
I woke up to minus one degree this morning. I let the dogs out and boy did they potty fast! They ran back and jumped in the bed. We keep a heated blanket on our bed and they love the warmth. I went back to bed too for a while and listened to the Johnny and Blondie show on 96.1 FM. I listen to them every morning and feel like they are family practically. Moving up north was hard. I had to find new radio stations to listen to and get used to new newscasters etc. I'm all settled in now and actually prefer the news and radio up here to what I had down state. I also like my new dentists and doctors up here as well. We made the transition pretty well. I'm not one to like change much so I surprised myself when I made the move and adapted to everything new so well.
I walked out to the mailbox to put some letters in there for pickup. It's not bad as long as you're dressed for the cold. The sun is shining pretty and becasue we got the snow up fast the driveway is clear and dry with no ice. I hate ice worse than anything. I find the cold invigorating myself. It's crisp and clean and sort of wakes up your brain. :)
I was looking at seed packets at Walmart the other day. They have their seeds in. Boy, did the prices ever go up. One package of seeds was $1.50. I forget if that was the Burpees. There was another brand that was a little less money. I guess like everything else prices are going up. I didn't buy any yet. I still have to go through my seed bag. I have a lot left from last year and I mail ordered some. I need to make a list of what I need. I really liked those flat Italian green beans I planted last year. We're still eating them out of the freezer and they are very flavorful and meaty tasting. We always plant a big veggie garden. I'm glad. God only knows what the price of produce will be this year.
Well, have a great day everyone and stay warm!!
Brenda
I've peeked in on this thread once or twice ... chuckling over my coffee. Not much snow here in SE MI, but we do have the cold today. Burrr.
I've taken the dog out to catch the frizzbee a couple times, but no walking in this weather.
Dori, love the pics of the daylilies. I have a few in my basement too. :o)
Silly me, I also started the wave petunia, cauze they said 30 days to germ. and a couple people on the web said it took a long time to germinate and to bloom. Then I started some real old Red Rock Penstemon seed hoping for a couple to germinate .... I think every one of them germinated. LOL
I'm with ya on the March 1st date for 'My Spring'.
By the way, we don't say the "F" word in my house ... it is called the "2nd month of the Year". LOL
I'm hoping to be at the News Herald plant swap this year too. I've read somewhere that a couple of you are thinking of being there too. So if that's true, let me know. I'd like to say 'hi'.
sharon

at least the house is clean and there are left overs to eat LOL
Hey sharon glad to see you posting again
there are several others that need to post on here n gab with us!!
going to help connie spend her $$
laterz stay warm!
cold here also got 8 D L seeds up and I have a question why are 2 of them white?? is something wrong and should I pull them out thay are growing just as well as the green ones ??
Gloria
if they are white they will grow for awhile and then die-i forget why just remember they DIE!
White foliage cannot synthesize chlorophyll, so they die out. Which is too bad-I think white leaves look so cool.I think I saw someone on the hoya forum having a plant do that. It looked so pretty, but wasn't going to last long.
Another 0 morning, well, better than the minus 6. Yesterday when I walked the dog it was even too cold for me. So I took a short cut through the woods to shorten my walk. What a mistake. The snow was so deep and I was huffing and puffing and it took me longer than to walk in the broken path. The dog was smarter and walked in my tracks.
I am planning on setting up a booth at the local arts and crafts show this summer, so I have been huddling by the woodstove and creating things for sale. Been knitting up a storm. Got 3 baby blanket/sweater sets done so far and 5 booty bags (that are made from old jeans) Listen to recorded books while I work. Makes the winter fly by. (ok, makes it go alittle smoother)
cparts when is the show if I can I want to go this year I missed last year
Gloria
Not sure yet. I have to ck on the date. It is usually in July right after the holiday. I have never set up there before, so I hope I can get in.
I will let you know the date when I find out. It is a really nice show. Lots of great ideas and wonderful things to see.
Ok, here is the information.
Arts and crafts show at the city park in Gladwin on July 12th, Saturday from 9am-5pm. There is a 2 dollar charge to park (if you park in the park)
There is a band that plays and entertains (free) train rides for the kids, a beautiful park boardering the river and many vendors in 12x12 covered booths to ward off rain and too much sun. Pretty nice set up and a good variety of items for sale. Last year there was everything from origional paintings, to metal art (garden art, trellis, garden seats etc) to marshmellow guns to hard carved walking sticks.
I would also recomend the River Walk, for lunch, shopping and even a massage after all that.
Gee, doesn't all that seem warm and nice. Brrrrr.
yaaa my week end off put it on the calender so will see you there
Gloria
It is a date!
Let me know where your going to be set up so I can find you !!
Gloria
Ok, but just look for the booty bags.
hey c-part.... where is gladwin??? the show sounds like a whole bunch of fun... i havent been to a crafts show in for ever....
Um, north of Saginaw about an hour. I 75 north to M61 and west about 25 miles (maybe)
OR
US 10 past Midland in Clares direction (past Sandford lake) to M18 and north for 20 miles or so. Gladwin is where M18 and M 61 meet.
(guess it would help if I knew where Plainwell was)
Closer to the date, maybe I should make a map and Dmail it to anyone that wants directions. Someone remind me in June.
Woke up to new snow this morning. I'd say we got about 4 inches of the white stuff. The sun is really beating down on the house and it has raised the temperature in here to 77 degrees just by opening the drapes. I have the furnace set to 70. It doesn't even come on these bright sunny days. Hubby spent a couple hours out there on his favorite toy..........the Kubota tractor plowing the snow. I shoveled off the back porch and walkway to the gate. I put some icy melt down to melt it real good. The sun will dry it up nice. Tomorrow I have to get my old mom out of the house and into the van. She's having some tests done at the hospital in Tawas. I have to make sure she doesn't fall with her walker so we're vigilent about scraping up every bit of ice and snow. I hope it's not bad in the morning. We have to be there at 9:30.
I love it when it's sunny. It isn't at all windy and didn't seem cold to me at all out there with my coat on. I really don't mind winter as long as I don't have to drive in bad weather. It would be different if I was still working I guess.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm off to watch a very old Cary Grant movie with the hubby.
Oh, I love craft sales too but I have such a tiny house now and no place to put anything. I took a lot of my favorite junk and hung it up down on the pole barn porch. We call it the Crackerbarrel now. ha ha ha. I still have boxes of stuff in the basement I need to get rid of. Maybe a yard sale. :)
Brenda
it would be fun if a lot of us went to the craft show its a good one Dorie could bring her pretty balls !!!!!!!!!!! I know I will be there its not far from here I was so bummed last year couse I had to work
Gloria
Morning everyone!

I am going grocery shopping and small errand running just in case. They are wrong so many times!!

Julie
Lol, we already have the robins. Seems like some do not want to leave in the winter. The redwing blackbird is my sign of spring.
killdeer killdeer is what i listen for! them robins are PEST along with the starlings!
I did daves chat this morning, then i have been dancing on the wii game-2days in a row. Im going to try to do it every day for at least 1hr! whew-the knee just the one giving me the hard time about dancing!
I see we are suppose to get more snow but i dont even care-my mators are sprouting!

this pic is from my MARCH folder :)
just got this cute email with pic
It's winter here in Michigan
And the gentle breezes blow,
Seventy miles an hour,
At twenty five below.
Oh, how I love ole Michigan
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter and your nose freezes shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave my Michigan
Cause I'm frozen to the ground!
,¸¸,.·*-:-*.·:*:·. >^, , ^< .·:*:·.*-:-*·.,¸¸,

Ronna
That is a really, really cute poem. And do you see my mitten in the picture?
Good one Dorie I love Michigan Too LOL
Gloria
It is pretty bad, because I really like winter, but I am done with it, we can move ahead now.
Bring on the next season...Mud.
We got another 2" of snow last night. Brings the total to 72" for the year. Pretty good snow year.
Adding a link to the booty bags, so you all know who I am at the show this summer. Look for the jean bottoms. lol
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/809126/
Did you all hear what's on the way for Sunday!!! Oh say it ain't so...
I predict that we will get at least 2 more feet of snow before spring. Don't stone me, please. Don't throw snowballs either.
Seems like we always get the worst snow the first of March. (on march 1st or 2nd) 2007-8"
2006-18" 2005-12"
That is of course if Mother Nature is not confused and bringing us all that snow early. Maybe, just maybe, we will have an early spring.
It COULD happen.
geezzzzzzzzzzz yes and I have to work this week end I AM READY FOR SPRING may be we will get this all over and spring will come early!!!!!!! you know in like a lion out like a lamb thing
Gloria
Yes, the first of March I never believe that by the end we could see water out front and ducks swiming, Redwing blackbirds and turtles sunning. I can almost hear the peeper frogs peeping.
(ah, I can dream, can't I?)
Probably a good weekend to work. Keep you busy and then have a nice weekend off.
seems like its always a mess on my week end to work good thing its only 3 miles there some of the people live a whole lot further away and I worrie about them driving so far speaking of work I should go get ready yuk have a good day
Gloria
so it sounds like we are all on the same weekend. this is my weekend off. i really like the bags cparts!!! both of my daughter would love them.... the doggy photo is a dorable also... good hiding place. teehee. our dog is way to big for that. but its not to bad here this morning i just got back from bringing max for a walk... he really enjoys them and so do i. it really keeps you moving having a dog to walk. it tires him out faster too. with the deep snow to plow thru... well have awonderful weekend. and stay warm maybe keep the valentines snuggling going on??? Ronna
My dog is way to big too. That was someone elses cutie. My dog has been burrowing in the covers on the bed, throwing pillows all over and crawling under the covers. I've had to shut the door to keep him out.
So now he is nestled by the woodstove...snoring.
Glad you like the bags. I hope they will be a big hit at the show. I am planning on making many more.
