I've been given or traded some japanese morning glory seeds by some wonderful folks here on daves. I was recently going through them to see which ones I wanted to grow this year, I received so many I can't decide.
I can't seem to find pictures of these morning glories, can you all help me?
saznami may be spelled wrong
keniaki
solid flake shibori
feather split blue
aomurasaki
augakiyama
jishi
kawaru
brazilian setosa
fuji no murasaki
sydney
maisugata
thanks so much.
I can't decide which ones to grow, there were a few of them that I did find pics of.
I'm also wanting to know if any of these are short growers, meaning, can they be put in a pot with a short trellis on them. I have one oblong pot with an upright trellis that's about 3 foot , don't want a vine on it that's going to hang off for 4 feet LOL so if any of these may fit the bill please let me know ok.
thanks so much in advance
kathy
would love to put pictures with these names
Easiest way is to go to Plant files and type the name in the cultivar box .. don't put anything else in anywhere else. Don't type in solid flake when looking for shibori.

Well, I've done that already, thanks.
Which is why I'm here asking.

Your "Jishi" is more commonly called Kikyosaki or Picotee

I don't know which color you have.
Like beth I found em all. The trick is to only plug in the cultivar and nothing else.

kathy_ann - I'd like to add some clarification on the "Keniaki" that you inquired about which is a type of Ipomoea obscura...
the following 2 strains which originated in different parts of Africa are sometimes confused with each other but they are distinctly different because of the tube coloration...
there are also subtle but distinct differences in the upper lobes of the leaves in that the strain from Ethiopia has a higher upward arching of the upper lobes with the inside of the lobes in closer proximity while the Keniaki strain has a less pronounced upper lobing arch that has a wider space in between the upper lobes...
the differences in the leaf lobing can be helpful to differentiate between the 2 strains even before the plants flower once you become familiar enough with the different leaf shapes......
Ipomoea obscura yellow-orange strain cf. Kenya > Keniaki has the light tube

Keniaki can also refer to the color yellow in Romaji but in this particular case of the yellow Ipomoea obscura strain cf.Kenya, the term "Keniaki" has a definite double meaning as to the significance and appropriateness of the term keniaki as it has been applied to this particular yellow strain...
Ipomoea obscura yellow-orange strain cf.Ethiopia has the dark maroon colored pigment in the lower tube

Hope that helps...
