I am in Zone 5 and I have collected poppies from trades here and I have been looking them up to see which ones I should put down now while WS. Here is my list, please take a look and give me your opinion on which I should sow now and which I should start inside next month. The names are all the info that was on the packages.

red/white fringe
Shirley
Peony poppy
Oriental salmon
Himilayan Blue
Iceland

Thank you, Kathy

Can anyone tell me which of these Poppies can be WS in Z5 ?
That is a great list of poppies, Kathy. I wish I knew what to tell you.
I've had super luck so far with Breadseed blue, shirley, and different kinds of annual poppies despite warm ups and hard frosts. I'm not sure for for your zone, though. You could always try a few of each and save the rest...your own zone experiment:-) If you keep good records, you'll have lots of data to lead you after you collect seeds from all these lovelies for next year.
Fingers crossed. Hopefully you'll get some feedback from someone more knowlegeable than I am!
Bev
Thank you! I am going to start potting them then, and put them out, I will save a little of each "just in case".
Kathy
Kathy,
I am winter sowing the Himilayan Blue. Apparently, these do best in Z5 or colder, but I decided to give it a shot any way -- love this blue beauty. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Himalayan Blue also want acid soil and, I believe, plenty of water. They're best known, I think, for growing well in the PNW.

Try just a few seeds - the nice thing about poppies is their seeds remain viable for years :-)
