Hi,
Some pampas grasses do not seed... I have some of the white ones and never get any seedlings and they blow all over!

You should check on what types do seed!

jcf: The seed is in the plumes, you will have to cut off the plumes. The seed would be in the feather strands. I started a hardy pampas grass from seed from a trade one year ago, it is now starting to make plumes. I plan to save seed from it this year. I would imagine that you would have to wait about 6 wks. after it starts blooming to have the seed be mature enough.

I received some pampas grass seed in trade last season...it is veryyyyyyy fine and small. It did germinate well, though, and the first season grasses that I grew are about 16 inches tall. Good luck :)
