I have some seeds too I am wanting to get going. So I will be reading along with all the posts. Some of the people on this forum have experience with this specie. Frank

Hi,
I germinated seeds (from Silverhill Seeds) of this last year. Same as most morning glories, nick and soak overnight, then sow. Keep in a warm spot. The vine grows very rapidly in warm weather, unfortunately it seems to set buds rather late in the season, so to see flowers in the north one needs to grow it in a container and bring it in during the fall. Silverhill says it blooms year around on their site, has anyone gotten flowers in summer?

Most people have reported that the seeds germinate best at around 90+ degrees, but germination may also be sporadic...smoke compounds are known to stimulate Porana seeds...might help Stictocardia too(!)...

I can find no credible in depth description of Stictocardia macalusoi anywhere on the web...and until a serious botanical description is located (which includes exacting descriptions of the calyx at all stages) I am going to refrain from distinguishing between S.macalusoi and S.beraviensis as corolla coloration variances of pinkish through reddish may occur in both species and these corolla colorations are per se insufficient to differentiate between the species...

Strains of both S.beraviensis and/or S.macalusoi apparently originate from wide and overlapping geographic areas and the resultant varying geographic adaptation may produce strains that flower over a range of climatic stimuli...e.g., I've gotten reports of plants flowering in the Springtime throughout the Summer and sometimes only later in the Season...

Most strains of Stictocardia seem to be heat loving and will put whatever water is available to good use...

TTY,...

P.S. - I'm also on the lookout for Stictocardia woodii which is the only Stictocardia species which produces blue flowers...and a 'pachy'caul caudiciform type stem base/root...

Now Caren, Did you get those seeds from emmas auction LOL

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

Yep, I didn't see you bid so I did LOL!

LOL, No I didn't bid on them this time, I notice that she's not got any more on ebay, nor does anybody else. I did have someone send me some cuttings. I'm hoping I can get them to root.
