Phil Says Six More Weeks of Winter!
Phil's official forecast as read 2/2/08 at sunrise at Gobbler's Knob:
Here Ye! Here Ye! Here Ye!
On Gobbler's Knob on this fabulous Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2008
Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators,
Rose to the call of President Bill Cooper and greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths.
After casting a weathered eye toward thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil consulted with President Cooper and directed him to the appropriate scroll, which proclaimed:
"As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me.
Six more weeks of winter it will be!"
It can't be.. 6 more weeks?
Time to start those seeds! Only six weeks to get them growing and ready to enter the big world! LOL
Tammie
Wow that sucks I am thinking spring will be here sooner though or at least I hope so.!!!!
Phil must being waiting on me. I need shelves with adjustable light fixtures to sow seeds! Hubby is working on the project this weekend! Woooohooo....
Oooops, sorry James, on the other hand, I'll take spring sooner than what Phil has predicted! lol.
Canadian and U.S. groundhogs at odds over spring predictions
Canwest News Service
Published: Saturday, February 02, 2008
Canada's two foremost weather predictors said on Saturday that we're in for an early spring. But their U.S. cousin saw his shadow and headed back into his burrow to hunker down for another six more weeks of winter.
Bad groundhog, bad groundhog.
I want it to be sooner too James..
Yeah another that thinks it should be sooner...........lol
I say shoot the lil Ba&^%%$# LOL
Amen to that. d__*)*&^%## varmints.

Has it jumped over you already?
It was on the 60'ish here yesterday....it was a little cooler today and raining. Back to winter. :(
Mid 70's here today and a bit windy. I know it will get cold again but enjoying it for now.
Supoosed to be up to 70 here today with snow and cold tomorrow. This is getting to get on my nerves.
65 here today suppose to get up to 75 BOY am i hoping..............lol
WOW!! That is one healthy brung for winter!!! I can hear it laughing at the snow from here.
MyRee; isn't it great to have such beauty to help get over the winter? Those look happy!
Kim
How do you keep your happy brugs in leaves? Mine start making them, and when they're a fair size, they drop. Maybe It because I'm too new to brugs? A few have Yed this winter, Hopefully, it will be a head start for summer blooms.
Sounds like they're maturing up with those Y's....look for buds forming soon. Congrats. :-)
My weather here has been cold, hot, warm, then back to cold, then raining..misting raining,,then up to 80 then back down to 60's something last nite...today..it did sunshine for about 2 seconds along with misting rain again...LOL.. so no time for spring type weather here...just crazy weather for now....
Last year my brugs were in the basement, neglected of light and water. I thought I had killed them, I still have them, and they are doing well. I brought these in from the garage when the first real cold snap hit after Christmas, they had no leaves. They have done well. I spray and water them occasionally with the 'recipe' on the other forum. They are rewarding me.
We had sun all day but I think it stayed in the 20's
Snowing again today, an inch or so so far. It is not suppose to be a big one like last week though. Then it is predicted in the low 40's for the weekend. I can't wait. I don't have to work! Pots to be retrieved from the shed, gardening soil to be brought in, planning.....
I hope it isn't another 6 wks of winter. Last night they said it would get down to 38 and I had a wierd feeling -so I put all my brug pots in the garage and sure enough this morning they said it was 32! I'm soo glad I did that..It is supposed to get up to the mid 70's this weekend yeah!!!
Still some flurries.
The picture is of the yearling that visits. I don't know if its mother died or was a sibling, but it has stayed near her since her death over a week ago. You can see the one to the left of the sweet little thing. The yearling paws and eats some of the plants in my yard.
I feel bad for it.
Poor little thing. I would go to a feed store and get something that it can eat. I have heard corn is not good for the young ones but they may have a suggestion of what you could buy.
Tammie
Actually my neighbor behind me has some of the feed from the game dept. I know it eats some of it. We both keep track of it.
The field and game dept will not remove the dead one until the little one stays away
Poor baby. Life is so hard on them some times.
Great pics here.Love the Brugs looking out at the snow, The Yearling looks very healthy with a thick winter coat. I hope it survives.
Yes Myree, I think as long as you did not see your shadow, winter will be gone in the next few days, but then, I am an eternal optimist☺
oh yes, I am an eternal optisist also. Isn't it a great life?
MyRee - no pun intended, but your winter picture are VERY cool!
I love that combionation together, it's so pretty.
Yes hurry spring I need to thaw out.
