I would like to add the Velvet Mite to our bug files but I got a message to add the Order and Family details here first because the files were not familiar with them.

I am particularly pleased to see a Velvet Mite added. I have photos of one that I took here in Australia, but even sending a specimen to a spider expert at a museum, I have been unable to get it identified any closer than the family, so have been unable to add it to BugFiles.

Oh how wonderful Kennedy ! I'm glad you were finally able to ID your mite. May I recommend a book to you...........National Audubon Society Field Guidt to Insects & Spiders ISBN 0-394-50763-0. That is how I ID'd my velvet mite.
