Here is my Weigela this last year:
Just put in my select seeds order..
Oooh, that's pretty!
Why, thank you!! I love it-it is my favorite thing we inherited with the house. I have/am putting in dragon's blood sedum and golden creeping jenny as ground covers around it...I can't wait to see how it looks in a couple years after they stare spreading!!
Wow! That is the most beautiful Weigela I have ever seen. Several of my neighbors have them, but they are no where near as lovely as yours.
Donna
Oh Donna-thank you!!!
Beautiful Weigela, Fairy. : )
How tall and wide does sedum get? I bought one the other day and it is growing like a weed. Anyone have a picture of one in the ground?
~Lucy
Fairy, that looks a lot like the Wine 'n Roses Weigela - but since you inherited it with the house am I correct in guessing they didn't leave any ID for you?
I was thinking the same thing, Dryad -- I don't have Wine and Roses, but I'm sure thinking about it after seeing Fairy's. :))
I think that it depends on the sedum
Why thank you everyone!!! I tell ya at first I didn't like it, but when it bloomed I was floored!!
I really like the Wine 'n Roses - it does well. There's also one that is a re-bloomer, I'll have to dig through my records to find which one that is. I think if you put a low sedum under there, like S. kamschatikum (sp?) or Fulda Glow it would work well.
Mine reblooms a little after I pruune it after it blooms. If ya want I have 2 options-since you & Suzy live close together I can send ya a little box of cuttings-rooted or not your choice or I can tell ya that the lady that lived here B4 got hers from Lowe's of all places for under 10 dollars & it was in a galloon pot at the time I think-about 5 yrs. B4 we moved in...
oh lordy - that's tempting, but I'm going to have to wait on taking you up on your offer. I'm going to completely redo the front yard this year, so I know I want one, but am not sure where it will go yet!
I have Dragon's blood sedum & creeping Jenny that I am trading for going under it. They are creepers which I needed since there is a sprinkler head in the corner I didn't want to block. When we moved in there were all kinds of things in front of the various heads which we moved this last fall-I tell ya moving boxwoods is NOT easy!! I just don't know what they were thinking!! For me water isn't cheap, so I couldn't afford to water just the boxwoods-LOL
Wow - I remain amazed at how casual some people are about their sprinkler systems - even casual about installing one. I so disagree with big expanses of lawn that I refuse to install sprinkler systems, even though some of the jobs can be big bucks - I just think it's irresponsible. Sounds like the sprinkler system and the landscaping were done separately!
I have no clue-it is a little rediculous though-it was A LOT f work moving those durn things!! We try not to use it, but this last summer we had to for lack of rain....We had $250 water bill for the 3 month stretch for the summer-not too bad-usually it is like $80 for the 3 mos. (total, not per month). We didn't use it too much, just when it had been a week w/o rain-we have neighbors that use it every night-we would use once or twice a week and run it for 30mins instead of how the neighbors would run it for 15mins a day...
