I saw a thread on the Southwest Forum for a birthday card request for a sisters 91st birthday. So I want to steal the idea for my father in law.
His 90th birthday is Feb 11th, and he is in a VA hospital in Pennsylvania. If anyone would like to send him a birthday card I think it would be great if he was flooded with birthday wishes. If you d-mail me I will give you his address. And many thanks to anyone who would like to join in!
Here is the thread I'm stealing.

I'm stealing an idea
Thanks Victor and Louise - you're great friends!
hehehe...you might want to think of a nice gift for the mail delivery person after this...
Good idea 3G's.I think it'll be fun for him getting them from all over. Thanks!
Thanks Al!
Thanks venu and mrsJ! You're the best!
Thanks Thom! DG friends are the best friends!! I'm really getting excited about this. I think my F-I-L will enjoy his 90th birthday wishes.
Thanks Celeste and bluecow!!
Thanks Pirl!
Are you getting a good response?
The card was mailed today.
I just counted 10 from DG, and I asked some other friends too.
Well if we keep posting to this thread it should remain on the home page and hopefully more people will see it.
I saw the post I stole from in the recent posts page, and replied to that one a day or so before deciding to do it for Joe.
Stealing ideas are good as long as they are good ones!!! I will dmail you!
Thanks Dawn. This is becoming as much a gift for me as it is for him!
It is always better to give than to receive....and believe me you will feel soooo good just knowing you brought a smile to his face!
Thanks Birdlady Susie from the Southwest forum!
My father in law is just the best - I can't wait to see him for his birthday!
And double thanks to roadrunner from the Southwest forum for the original idea, and for sending birthday wishes!
Please remember to thank him for his service to our country, too. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
Pirl, I'm making his bd card with a red/white/blue theme for that reason.
So far he has cards coming from these areas:
Arizona
Florida
Maine
New Jersey
New York
Nova Scotia
Ontario
Pennsylvania
Wisconsin
We need:
New Hampshire
Vermont
Massachusetts
and 38 more!
Would you consider putting the request under General Discussion and telling them you're trying for every state in the union?
That's an idea - I just hate asking for stuff, but it's for a good cause!
I did thank him for his service.
No harm in asking.
Thanks Victor.
I just added Alabama and Utah to the list.
Still nine days until his birthday.
Let's hope more will come forward and represent at least all of the northeast!
Connecticut and Indiana have just been added!
This is so much fun.
Sounds like election night!
Is he in good enough health to read for himself, I hope he is, how will you display all of these cards you know how DG'ers can get lol
Yes, he can still read, and he has a bulletin board in his room - but I'm thinking we can fill up an entire wall! And the staff will probably get into it too, and he'll get lots of company!
And an added bonus for me is that when DH sees all the cards from my DG friends he'll understand why I'm "on the computer so much"! I'm not telling DH I'm doing this!
Smart!
What a great surprise for DH, too!
I'll try for Iowa now.
Sounds like you have a plan girl and surprising your DH is just the icing on the cake lol
British Columbia is on the charts!
Any word from Fiji yet?
Actually I can ask someone from Alaska.
I just requested Washington (the state, not DC).
Hey - why not ask one of our Senators?
Go for President Bush while you're at it!
Go Debi Go!
WH requests would probably take more time but the senators might work. Did he live in PA or NY recently? If he lived in both, try both sets. They all have emails and phone numbers listed on their website. I would call since time is close.
They probably have email addresses, too, and certainly one has staff in NY that isn't as busy as the other one.
He's lived in PA most of his life and grew up in Ohio. I'll check it out!
