OT somewhat - What's with sweet tea?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Ok I didn't' comment on liking or not liking sweet tea...I prefer it plain LOL...I do like raspberry iced tea, peach , blueberry they are good
the sweet tea you get a Whataburger is WAY to Sweet to me makes my teeth hurt LOL

Now as for Mayo and fries...OOOOHHHHHH YEAH...yummy but the fires have to be hot fresh out of the fryer,
It is something I got into when I worked at Burger King as a Teen it was what we would make while we got things ready to open ...some would add tarter to it or ketchup but I like just mayo (real stuff not light stuff) and hot fresh fries.

Just like Ruffles and sour cream ...mmmmmm...is it lunch time now LOL

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Podster..I take the teabag out of the cup, and with the bag on the back of the bowl of the spoon....I gently wrap the bag's string around once to get the drips out before lifting it out of the way. 'Maybe that reads a little clearer.....:)

We had the British Fern Society here this summer on a tour. I volunteered to do the lunch one day. I was worried about the TEA, tho. Knew they despised iced tea. It was soooo hot and I didn't have any idea what kind of drinks they'd prefer. I d-mailed a Brit on another forum and asked if my choices...lemonade and soft drinks would be okay. She said anything but iced tea. For the lunch I had lots of sodas, lemonade....and, as an after thought, raspberry iced tea. Guess what went first??????

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Bubbles, pretty funny about the tea.lol Maybe they had been in the south long enough for the heat to be a drag on their energy. But then it's hard to resist raspberry tea.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

So true!

With your Texas Hospitality they would have been happy with anything, BB.

Fun reading - thanks.

I grew up on tea brewed on top of the stove and then while it was warm Mom added 1 cup of sugar. That's still the way I like it. One thing I love about East Texas is that most restaurants offer sweet tea. If it has to be sweetened at the table it just isn't as good. I really like Chili's mango tea though.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

There ya have it Bubba.

One Tea container of sweetened Tea, and one unsweetened...because the sweets and the non sweets are about divided down the middle, and neither one will drink the other!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go make some blackberry sage tea...

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

And, if you add 1 can of diced yellow MANGOS to the recipe below (use the Bacardi margarita mix can) and drizzle some of that "simple syrup" into it before you blend it together with the ice.....you'll have made

"A ROARING GOOD TIME!"

never let it be said that the Gymgirl doesn't contribute....

P.S.

Miracle Whip is un-American, and should be addressed by the House Ways and Means Committee....tee hee hee!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I have to stock the fridgerater with both miraclewhip and mayo.

A bunch of us get together at a friends farm in Schulemburg and do projects, then hangout on the old fashioned wrap around porch in the evening. Each of us makes a lunch or dinner during the weekend.. Well I had to make tuna fish sandwiches for lunch. I hate mayo- and like the tea, it's about split down the middle...sooo...I made up a new recipe for both...called Texas Tuna-
Tuna filet/albacore
1/2 Mayo
1/2 Miracle
1/2 sweet relish
1/2 dill relish
1/2 diced purple onion/or to taste
1 bunch or to taste cilantro
good sprinkle of dillweed
1/2 lime squeezed on ingredients including Tuna

Luckily it was a hit, the Mayos and the Miracles, and the Dills and the Sweets both loved it, and the long standing family fued between the twain was finally settled!...LOL...

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

oh well if ya are counting who will drink what I better be more specific on it I will drink either one ...I just know the sweet tea at Whataburger is too sweet for me LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

mm sounds good

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, that's enough bragging. I only have to consider the picture of something and the weight climbs on.

Gymgirl - like your thinking. Which "Adult Beverage" should be added to that mix? Personally, I prefer Meyer's Dark.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Bubba,
I'm with you on that one!

Randy,
Even I would eat that tuna. I hate Miracle Whip AND sweet relish, but you seem to have found a true happy medium. I'm game! Thanks for sharing. And I had to smile! Ingenious!

P.S. DH went to ER with his daughter today. I'm home with my DMIL. DH is doing ok, but they are leaning toward keeping him overnight for observation. Blood Pressure was doing a bit of a yo-yo today. Also, my supervisor was taken by ambulance to ER. She was bleeding out from the condition that nearly killed her in October. She's been back only on half-days since January 1, and with a portable oxygen pack. Please keep her in your prayers. Her life hangs in a fragile balance...

Thank you all.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Linda, I'm praying for your husband, your friend, and for you! ((((((((((((((Linda)))))))))))))))))

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Gymgirl..prayers for you and family and your friend

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

You are so correct about the fragility of life. Will be praying for your strength as you care for your loved ones.

Christi

Hello All!

Thank you eversomuch for your words of encouragement, and especially your prayers! DH is home. Tests show he may have had a mild seizure. Dilantin levels supposed to be at 10, and his was at 4. Seems the steroids he was taking for his foot (undiagnosed gout), were counteracting the Dilantin, so he's off the steroids. And, he's on a strict NO SALT diet, which is already killing him, cause he's a chips and beer kinda guy. But, not to worry, the DW already bought the "Cooking with Low-No Salt" cookbook from Amazon, about 1-1/2 months ago, just waiting for this day...

Now -- Please Pray he'll eat it and remain compliant!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

The will to live and be healthy almost always trumps appetite.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Best wishes with the diet... you will find many herbs and seasonings he can eat. Then you can teach us all....

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Oh yeah herbs can be combined to make things taste just as good if not better without salt and be better for ya *L*...I'll even pick my bosses ear at the restaurant for ideas for ya of mixtures of herbs.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Mibus2. You are another of the best people I know.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

pppppppppssssssssstttttttttttttttt best? not sure about best I do have my faults...... but if I can help I try to

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Christi is good for our egos...thanks Christi....Your the best! bestester

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

yes that she is a gem herself for sure.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

You ALL are the most wonderful people I have had the privilege of getting to know! Take Randy, for instance. He just threw his home wide open to scores of total strangers who had only been introduced by what they presented on the forum. And Big Bubbles and the rest who host folks in their homes overnight even! I think you all are the bestisimos!

ummmm. Please forgive me, in advance, in case that's a curse word in some other language.....ya'll get my sentiment, right?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I get it and I agree with you. DG people are amazing very generous people. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Randy yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I haven't met anybody through DG that I haven't throughly enjoyed.
