CLOSED: Help with gall ID

Hanover Twp., PA(Zone 6a)

Does anyone know what type of gall this is. Usually found in oak forests in late May early June.

It could have been anything - bacteria, virus, bug, mites - that's what make it so tough to id.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

That's a wool sower gall. There aren't enough of them around to do any damage. Watch it as it changes color. Reminds me of cotton candy.
