CLOSED: Strange Spider

at about 10 pm this evening, i was jumped upon by a spider i have never, ever seen before in pictures on the net, in books, anywhere. here is the best description i can give u, as im terrified of spiders and only got a brief look at it. it was large (no, really, this isn't the phobia talking), it was black with white or grey spots or markings all over it, its front legs were longer than the rest and looked fairly sharp (according to mum's description) and they weren't long and thin like a normal garden spider's legs. when she squished it, it took her like, 4 or 5 hits with a thong/flip flop/sandle to stop it moving. she sed it was hard like a scorpion. it was very vicious (it showed us when a gecko thought it looked mighty tasty even tho the spider was easily 2 times the gecko's size. the gecko was fully grown) and it hung from a web. it doesn't look like any sort of garden spider i have seen or orb spider for that matter. please tell me what u know, sorry i don't have a photo.
