Thats so funny Nancy!
Yes w/ racoons you definitely need things to be as stable as possible.
Do they always come around during the daytime?
Show Us Your Feeders - Vol. 8
Great pics Nancy! They sure are some fat little boogers!
Those pics were taken early in the morning - before 6:30am. I guess they were washing up before bedtime.
When I get up in the morning I always know if they've been there the night before just by looking at the birdbath. If it's muddy - I know I had visitors.
Sometimes it's not just mud... like this - with the remnants of my tomatoes and peppers!!
AAARRRRGGGHHH!

Really great setup Camankin. a make up for wide variety of birds!!!
Nancy I love your raccoon pics. I see one in the summer time here. And he's big like your fellows.
gabagoo, do you get birdy visitors at your birdbaths?
Definitely looks like a Hairy w/ the long beak and size.
Thanks Pelle! Eleanor
Eleanor, Nice Hairy...haven't seen one for quite awhile.
Tabasco...Thanks for that great website on the Bluebirds! I had a BB checking out one of the nesting boxes and a cotton picking House Sparrow won the battle and took over the box. As we were leaving for town I noticed another House Sparrow was checking out the other one....all I can say is grrrrrrrrr! I have 2 more to put up tomorrow and we will see how it goes.
Gabagoo...We had a family of Raccoons last summer and they loved the barn cat food!!
Dellrose - Thanks for the comment! Love the coon pic. I haven't seen any coons around here in quite a while, but that doesn't mean there not out lurking somewhere! Eleanor
Love your Raccoons Rose, and true, they do love cat food.
We had to cut down a ceder tree, so we planted it!
We left the branches on for hanging the feeders.
We have woodpecker, flickers, red birds, finches, nuthatch, tifted tidmouse, ect. ect.
There is something new every day!
We had coons in the feeder but we put up an electric fence to keep them out.
Camankin - I love your feeders. The tree trunk is awesome and looks so natural sitting there - better than metal for curb appeal!! Unfortunately that wouldn't work in my yard - it would be full of squirrels. I have finally beaten the squirrels with the advanced pole system from WBU (I think???) Ive had to tweek the set up a couple of times but they haven't been able to get onto it since I put a 1 foot extension on the pole. Eleanor
We have had record precipitation this month...over 6" and our pond has filled up. Thought I would share a pic. I noticed the little birdies were around it where I put out corn for the Quail (trying to attract them, don't know if they are actually there). Also trying to lure the Canada Geese, Great Blue Heron and gee maybe the Baldy will drop down someday!
Rose
Are you sure you want to lur in Canada Geese??
LOL nanny! We had them across the street before we sold the dairy farm and we miss them! They weren't a problem for us as the ponds aren't that close to the house. The geese always spend the night at our friends house who has a pond as big as a lake!! Also there aren't that many usually 20-30 at a time.
I opened a squirrel resturant to keep them out of trouble. Check them out here they are live on cam between 8:45 AM - darkthirty EST.

Thats so funny!
You should post that in the Wildlife forum too; I'm sure they would love it!
Don't you just love those squirrels!!! Not!!!!!!! I've had to do some adjusting to my Advanced Pole System cause I have the superman squirrel who can leap the pole and baffle in a single bound! I have added some more feeders around that they can get into - I just hope I can afford to keep them filled. I have about a dozen squirrels running around my yard. Can't wait until they all have offspring! I put up a tray feeder and a seed cylinder that is available to them. When the squirrels aren't hogging them the birds like them too. I orignally had up just a bungee cord corn holder and box with peanuts that they have to open to get into. I guess if you can't lick'm, feed'm!! Eleanor
I have a "Squngee" in the background(which is hard to see) and a twirling feeder in the foreground. I have both of these just over my fence to keep the mess out of my yard. They are very athletic so why not give them something to work for thats slightly easier than getting into your birdfeeders and your plants? They go nuts over corn and they only eat about $10 a month.
Let's start a new one for the new season…
