I'm waiting for the vets to open and, in the meantime, I'm just sitting here worrying so I thought I'd see if anyone's awake yet ;o) I brought Whispurr to the vets yesterday because she has a cold again. I also mentioned to them that she seems to be constipated because she keeps going in her litterbox and sits there for several minutes, hops out and then goes right back in 2 minutes later. But there's nothing to show for it except a tiny little spot of pee. The vet checked her out and said there was nothing in her colon and sent her home with antibiotics for the cold.
Last night she continued her frequent trips to the litter box - literally every few minutes. She's also not eating much at all. I tried tempting her with tuna - she ate a little, but not much. She won't eat her canned or dry food either. I don't know how much she is drinking - it seems like less in the past 48 hours, but prior to that she was drinking plenty. Her appetite has been down for a couple days due to her cold, but yesterday was the first day she really didn't eat much of anything.
I did some research online and it sounds like she could have a urinary tract infection. She is not urinating anywhere in the house and doesn't cry out in pain, but her constantly being in the litterbox is definitely new behavior.
My husband told me to take her to a "real vet" today. I brought her to the animal hospital within Petsmart yesterday. He seems to think they are not as experienced - anyone know if this is true?
Here's my darling....I hate seeing her sick!!
Whispurr is sick - possible urinary tract infection?
