Found these at my Tropical Farm (very large wild Garden)
lying on the ground.
they are circular about 1/4" round and 3/4" long
round-shapped and wrapped like a croissant
CLOSED: Can help identify?
Interesting, aren't they?, but I don't think they are insect at all, actually. I think each is an opened up seedpod from something like (excuse the East Coast continental US common names) Jewelweed or Balsam Touch Me Nots.
Aloha, Sallyg!
Thank you for the ideas!
None of the plants you mentioned are near the area where found.
But tomorrow at farm i'll look around!
And if it's not a "bug",
i will be able to inspect closer!
Mahalo!
I honeymooned on Maui and Kauai. So beautiful..........
This is the Impatiens genus I'm talking about. It would also have Impatiens- I'm not that familiar with all the pods, but your sample does look just like what I know from Touch me nots.
They are definitely Impatiens seed pods, they pop open to spread the seed once full to bursting, then the pods curl.
My bad, it IS in bloom!
