In A Hurry Sunrise Serenade

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Howdy .. me and camera are back. Been very busy sowing seeds in the greenhouse. Some Sunrise Serenade I sowed about 8 weeks ago are growing slowly, but one is nervous as it started budding! It's probably because of all the warm weather we had a few weeks ago.

Wonderful to see you back here, X. Your photos not only take us out of winter for a while, but practically into another dimension :)

X - Your vine looks awesome! I can't believe that it looks so good grown indoors! Do you fertilize the vines with MiracleGro Bloom Booster? That was a little suggestion given to me when I first started growing MGs. Works like a charm to get the vines blooming up a storm!

Good to be back & thanks!

I don't feed them ever. The greenhouse environment is one of temperature extremes and some plants seem to react well to it, don't really grow but get fat & happy, kinda like a vacation and others get nervous! In the day time I'll let it get into the upper 90's and at night it can get into the upper 30's. The vines are a little over 8 weeks old. I saw this last year in some morning glory I grew. The nervous plants flower very early. It seems vines tend to be nervous. My Chalice Vine, Solandra is putting on buds as well. Wish my Beaumontia would get nervous.

It's probably a combination of temperature and light color which turns on or off a gene that says it's time to reproduce.

Did you get a shot of the SS bloom?

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

No, because there was nothing remarkable about the bloom. I've got tons of pictures already.

An aside note, I burned out the motor in my baby rock tumbler .. but what do you expect for $14.95? Everything I used for grit turned into a fine dust without making much of a dent on the seeds .. I was trying canna seeds because they are at least big enough to see if there was any surface abrasion. Even lining the drum with sandpaper didn't do much. But I must report, it turned out to be a wonderful kitty toy that kept them fascinated for hours and probably wishing they had an opposable thumb in their attempts to stop it and are probably responsible for the motor burning out. It even beat out the ink jet printer for entertainment value.

LOL, sorry to hear about your rock tumbler! I'm using the industrial one at work.
