What could I be doing wrong???

Benton County, MO(Zone 5a)

I just don't understand this. :-( I can't seem to add a new bug even though the Order is listed here. All it says is this:

The order ("Hymenoptera ") and family ("Sapygidae") are not familiar to us. Before you can add this bug, you'll need to post the details to the BugFiles How-to's forum.

What could possibly be wrong? I have had this trouble before. Is it something I am doing wrong? It is frustrating. :-(

I am trying to add,

Little Wasp Common Name
Hymenoptera - Order
Sapygidae -Family
Sapyga- Genus
Eleven Species- Species

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

You may be the first person to enter an insect in the familySapygidae, so the family has to be added by one of the admins, I think. BugFiles is relatively new, so all the different families aren't represented yet.

Thanks, you are probably right.

creekwalker,

I am not clear what you mean by:
Eleven Species- Species

Are there 11 species in the genus Sapygia. BugGuide shows the genus, but does not name any species.

Do you know the species of the bug you are trying to add? I will create an entry to introduce the family to BugFiles, but I need a species name.

If you have it identified to the genus but not to the family, I can create an entry with the species set to sp., ie for Sapygia sp.

Hi Kennedy, yes, there are eleven species of this here, but Bug Guide doesn't go into them, so I guess sp would be just fine. Thanks!

Fine, I have now created an entry for Sapygia sp. here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4978/
and you can go ahead and add your images.
Let me know when you have and I will select an image to illustrate the family in the index,

Ok Kennedy, I have added it, and thanks so much! I have only two pictures of this wasp and the other one is basically the same as this one, but farther away, so I'm not adding it.

Thanks again!

Thanks Diana,

I have now linked your image to the index to illustrate the family Sapygidae here:
