I have four shrubs that are overgrown and have suckered (they were about ten feet tall). I want to remove them. I'm guessing they are 20+ years old.
I have cut them back to about 3 ft.and I have obsticals at the site. There is a sidewalk and and electrical wire.
What can I use or do to kill shrubs and not the plants around them?
I want to replant this spring. Any suggestions or solutions?

Do you know what kind of shrubs you have? If you don't know which shrubs you have, would you be in a position to post photos? If they're already suckering, you're probably going to have to chemically treat them. This can probably be done without negatively impacting the desirable species around them.
