Pirl, I lied about the bulb numbers, as I just realized I was at 6999 and then I took your advice and bought two more frits so the number would match your suggestion of 7001 bulbs. So I need only 7001 wishes from you. Thanks

debilu, what is that ruffled (rose?) beauty ? I am rose hunting this week. thanks

Eleanor, I promise I will be out tending some of my messes this morning, but I would have been as annoyed at a given plant not planted too. Thanks for the wishes.

Victor, dear mom is in OK but she will call, and no doubt there will be a card from her with some scratch to spend on plants once I figure out where they are needed. Needed is my favorite word. How big was your jade that you lost? Scilla are a favorite. Thanks, Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

About 15 inches high. I had it trimmed up to appear bonsai-like so I could appreciate the stems.

HB - 7000 and counting.

Patti, sorry but I don't remember what rose that is, and I've been trying to remember for a while. I got it a couple years ago from Jackson and Perkins. I was out working in the garden, and on a trip indoors the phone rang and it was J+P with a BOGO sale, and before I knew it I said ok.
I never saw it in their catalog either. The bloom lasts a long time.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

BOGO?? Sounds like a cartoon character.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll take a GOGO to go, please.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Al, I've actually been trying to grow that for a while. (Sorry sorry Patti, it's still your party!) Do they take over everywhere, or are they sedate little plants with only humble ambitions?
x. Carrie

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

They are slow spreaders - actuallly the are supposed to be reseeding annuals , but mine are still green today.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Sounds like forget-me-nots. When do they bloom, for you? x, C

Thanks all, truly. It would be my birthday wish to be able to visit all your gardens and steal a few plants from each. So I double Debbie pinching privileges if I ever get to visit you.

I didn't get out to the garden today as the weather was wild and the lightning and thunder had even the dogs inside. But I did some mental gardening which is always a nice thing to do. Mostly about Lilac (pollyk) and now, crape myrtles (victor) that have me very happy. The best thing about a January birthday is that I feel justified in ordering seeds, I may have ordered enough for most of you too. Oh my, what was I thinking?

I do so enjoy the banter, the knowledge , foolishness and encouragement here. Thank you. Patti

I made up for the lack of pruning yesterday. I got out all the toys, including DH, the chainsaw, brush cutter, big loppers, and 2 hand pruners and had a big go in a large section of virgin growth. We made a mountain of brush. Then I found out that the fire department is issuing burn permits which they rarely do this week. So we will burn rather than chip. Way easier and cheaper. We unburied some gems. One was a 10 to 12 foot high bush blueberrie that is as old as the hills plus a slightly smaller one. Most of this thicket was Viburnum and Bay Berry. I found a few unknowns. But will wait until they leaf out before I hollow for help. Again thanks for all the B-day greetings. Oh, I have a snowdrop up. Patti

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Ooo. Oooo. Bay Berry. I want a bay berry and they are really hard to find. Got any baby ones to trade?

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i don't think i knew there was such a thing - only a candle scent!
