Golden Shadows dogwood

Waterman, IL(Zone 5a)

Has anyone tried the new Pagoda Dogwood 'Golden Shadows'. The leaves are supposed to be emerald green, hosta shaped, with a gold margin. I saw a picture in Heronswood's catalog. Check it out http://www.heronswood.com/shop/00852

I want one.

I have a small one - just planted last year. Too early to give a thumbs up or not.

Let me know how it's doing during the year. I want to put one near my patio to replace a dying Japanese Cherry. I'm sick about that tree dying. It was so big and beautiful. We had a severe late Spring freeze last year just before it bloomed. Half the tree bloomed, the other half died. D@#n weather!

Sorry to hear that. I will update you in the spring.

I've had one for about 3 years and give it a big thumbs-up! Beautiful plant. Far better than Cornus alternifolia 'Argentea', by far. My plant is growing in full sun and would do better with a little shade, but the other trees have not grown big enough to supply any shade yet.

I'm not sure what Heronswood is charging, but http://www.songsparrow.com is where I purchased my plant and Klehm's sends beautiful large plants.

Since Heronswood is owned by Burpee now, I would guess you'll get a much better and larger plant for the money from Song Sparrow.

You can also get a good sized one from Wildwood Maples.

Thanks for the information. I'll check out Klehms Songsparrow. I've bought from them before.
