I am marking student papers and one student wrote (in reference to the insurgents in Iraq):
'and even use there god as an escape goat for actions. '
Assuming you had to make a mad escape, what would you use?
(yes, I know the student meant 'scapegoat')
What is your "escape goat"?
It would not be on the back of a goat.
I laughed hard when I saw that in the other post, and the "retractable" ball point hammer - brilliant.
Escaping from what, where? Are you really escaping to anywhere in Iraq?
No, use your imagination - it could be any escape, anywhere!
Lots to escape from, but haven't figured out how to convert fantasy into reality yet.
Well, I suppose in the mundane world, my preferred escape would be in a silver cloud rolls royce - with a very good looking (male) British chauffer.
In a less mundane world - I'd rather fly - but like a bird, not with a mechanical contraption :-)
...aside from the students’ apparent belief in Polytheism.
I would use the New York City Subway System. Lacking that - a very casual, relaxed walk, looking straight ahead. ☺
I
Hadn't noted that, WC. Interesting.
I was more focused on the location & destination of the goat rider...
I would love to fly - just like a bird. All through childhood, I had regular flying dreams. But I had to wear my special zip-up sweatshirt: zip it open, hands in pockets extended to side & voila! I could go up as high as I pleased & was quite the world traveler for being so young (from 4 on). really fun stuff...
The RR w/ accessor(y)ies would do in a pinch, though.
Aren't dreams of flying AMAZING????? I remember how deeply I regretted waking up the first time I dreamt of flying.
Instant transport to any place & time, past, present or future.
and no rules! Occasionally, i will have ths same type dream - still have the zip-up sweatshirt (hey - it grew with me!!!) and still the same take-off & landing.
It is disappointing to wake up, but I always feel a bit lighter - like I accomplished something.
Get this . . . I had a guide to teach me how to fly the first time!
maybe that was the dashing Brit chauffeur!
No, it was an angel.
even better!
You would create a parallel universe(s) by doing that VG! ☺
I do :-)
I'd like to be able to walk again,,,,, DH says everyone has flying dreams, but I can't remember any! x, C
I have at least 6 - 8 adventures nightly, in colour, with sound & I remember most of them in detail.
It's a wonder I can get up in the morning - it's hard work!
My Escape Goat would look zactly like this -- http://beboframe.com/FlashFrame.jsp?Size=S&FlashBoxId=3309347442
BAAAH
i took flying lessons - but in a Cessna.
i still dream about flying like that (both senses of "dream"), but it was long ago and far away...
I don't know "what" I'd use, but is Johnny Depp available?
Sorry people, my escape goat would be a nice big cruise ship and I would have the biggest suite on board. You could all come with me as there is a hefty staff to passenger ratio on board to wait on us hand and foot. We only cruise to warm places, though, if you wanted antarctica or alaska you are out of luck. and, Oh my, the midnite buffet!
Martha
My escape, I've talked to Paul about this...this is all dream sequence sort of stuff...
Win the lotto, by about 100acres, plant everything, hire help, and live off the land. Answer to no one...do my own thing. That's it...I'd probably become a hermit of sorts...and I'd be ok with that...lol...email and telephone calls would be ok...sort of Zen like in mentality...
But you let us come visit you once in a while?
Primrose I was thinking when I ready your post that you will ride on Johnny? LOL
If he'll have me, Dawn!!!
I agree with Thom - hire help! I know I must have been royalty in another life! I was not born for domestic chores!
remember, we don't want our "escape goats" to be the fainting kind!
Martha
Depends what mood I am in.
Zany out going wild woman - A Black hole. I can escape and leave this world and everything behind to explore other worlds a million light years away. Gosh knows what I would find. Could be interesting.
On the other side - An isolated island with a beautiful beach, warm weather, an abundance of seeds and plants and a computer with an unlimited amout of power and unlimited minutes.
Actually, my escape would be to a secret garden, like in the movie/book. When I was a child, my parents were friends with a wealthy family in town. They had a sunken garden in their yard, and it was so cool!
A secret garden is a great idea!
Yes, everyone would be welcome for a visit...lol.
I have said this repeatedly, that if I ever did win the lotto...it's gonna be cows, horses, chickens, orchards, veggie patches, dogs, huge house, lots of help...LOTS. I think in a former life I was a millionaire farmer...or something close to it...maybe a farmer that was rich.
Well I bought a lottery ticket - My philosophy is: for one buck I get a dollars worth of dreams and a chance to make someone else happy. Hope it is you hemhostaholic :-) I want to see your farm :-)
What a nice thought! Although, sad to say, lottery winners aren't always happy. Seems like money doesn't make everything better - certainly makes things look better, though!
I think my "escape goat" would be to turn into Wallingford. He has style, class, good looks, a trim, muscular body, is smart and gets his way (almost) all of the time! He also doesn't have to go to work every day, worry about retirement, house payments or paying for medical care. Of course I'd still want someone like me - only tidier and richer to support me!
My escape goat was a blue PT Cruiser that brought us down to Florida for the winter! LOL
LOL whatever works for you, lady! C.
Thank you so much for that link wrightie! FANTASTIC! And I don't even like horses!
I've never had a flying dream.
Johnny Depp, even better still!
Edited to say:
Seandor: I laugh each time I read the line from your kid's paper... escape goat!! HA!
How old is the kid? The one righting the paper, not the one he wrote about!

Wrightie......thank you for that link. I loved, loved, loved dressage.Truly wish I still had a horse. So my escape goat would also be a horse, landing in a secret garden with J Depp and G Clooney within riding distance of a beach. Denzel and Steve would be lounging on the beach also.
Is that not the *best* dressage clip ever (next to Reiner Klimke, that is)?
I can dig the JohnnyDeppGoat, myself.
Yes Wrightie - that is an incredible dressage show! I had seen this previously, but it doesn't get old watching it again & again.
The JohnnyDeppGoat would be a great source of manure for the compost, too. Unless you are escaping to a no-gardening location.
You know, this is a fun idea and I don't mean to bring this thread down, but I hope we never have to make the choices that people of other countries have to make in their daily lives. I have the luxury of using my imagination for pleasure, not to escape terrible realities. We are all so blessed to be here and on DG!
My "escape" is my garden and my home, but I love to travel.
If I could have a fantasy escape goat it would be a large version of the hover skateboard Michael J Fox used in Back to the Future. I would see whatever part of the world I could think of and I would take as many friends that could fit on it.
