Well how about some salad and radish top soup, compliments of allrecipes.com

If you steam the mix of leaves - radishes, spinach and mustard greens - they are wonderful together. We sometimes add carrot tops, too.

Just a little S&P, and butter - yummy.

Thanks you all.

Put out some Brussles sprouts and lettuce sets, planted the Christmas gift grapefruit, pruned the chili pequin, removed some of the leaf cover so the onions could see daylight again, and spread the weed & feed and Over & Out on the lawn Saturday.

Come on rain!!

Enjoyed reading thru this thread. I wanted to express my amazement. I had set out multiplier onions which are doing great. My other half loves radishes and I found an old pkg. Planted them on Jan 14th on a whim. Cold, wet and miserable weather and yet on Jan 31st I find what must be 100% germination! Figured they would have rotted. Time to put in another row or two. Taters are also going in next week. Yes Doccat, trying your method. The only other edible green stuff growing now are herbs and garlic.

podster-you mentioned onions--i noticed that in the catalog they called the plants onion sets? small plants? also--i had a bunch of green onions and when i cut away all but the roots i wondered if those are like sets--would they grow?

i already threw them in the compost but will try next time--maybe they will srout in the compost--went to our nature center today and walked in the woods and they have wild onions everywhere

You will be surprised to see onion sprouts in the compost pile. If it is generating enough heat, they may not but if laying on the edge of a compost pile, they will.

Yes, onion sets are small plants. I bought some multiplier onion sets aka bunching onions aka potato onions a few years ago. I harvest some and save some to replant. They form a huge clump of onions but the onions are not large. I have never started onion from seed... has anyone?

I'm starting some green onions from seed now. There up and growing.

Did they sprout quickly?

Central Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

They took over a week or so.
