S. Georgia Spring Round Up April 19th
BB
Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know closer to RU, if that's OK. You've already got me down for some. 2 of the ones I really wanted are what I killed, along with a couple I didn't really need. Carmen and Suave Big Jim I just got seeds for this year. I'm going to try again with those.
Becky

I'm going to have a few t-shirt's print up that will say
2008 Southeast Ga. Spring Plant Swap........if anyone interested, LMK!!
I need some new T's anyway!!! Will give a few away as door prizes also!!
Happy Days Are Here!!!!
Donna - I so enjoyed 'meeting' you on the phone Saturday & can't wait to meet you & all the other great DGers in person in April! Well, as far as the door prize - it's a Toolhouse - sort of like a birdhouse, but for tools (garden)! Made by my otherwise-busy-"executive" DH! I have a couple in different corners of my large yard, so, when I'm just "out for a stroll", & see something that needs immediate attention - voila! I don't have to walk all the way back to the Shed to get my trowel or snippers!
OOPS! The pics seem to have been permanently transferred out of my photo file when I D-mailed them to you, & I don't have time to try to figure out how to get them back - is there a way you could get them off your D-mail & post them here? I won't be able to look into it for nearly 2 weeks - I'm leaving this morning on 2 back-to-back trips - so sorry! I'll check when I return, & see if I can figure it out! Thanks! Samantha
Hi Donna, can you get me a bag of worm castings before the ru? I have a few seedlings that I can transplant shortly and several new plants that I can put out now. I bought my first hellebore this weekend. Sharon
BB, thanks 4 the offer. I'll start all over again with "my" seeds. If it doesn't work I will let you know.
I am interested though in the Culantro you have. You have enough?
Tulip
Haven't planted yet. Will probably start this week. But I will have more than enough. I will save you some plants
Definitely a shade lover! Does not do well in sun. Good flavor
BB
BB, I'd be interested in the culantro also. Looks like the leaves they give you with pho (along with cinnamon or thai basil and bean sprouts) at Vietnamese soup places. Great that it likes shade.
Tulip and Beclu:
I just started a flat
Keep your fingers crossed! Just noticed the package said to use seed within 6 months. I brought it last year. I figure some of them will make it.
I didn't even know what it was until someone called it by a name I recognized which is Shadow Bene. This is a very popular herb in the Caribbean. It was a staple in all the West Indian markets back home. My Sister-in Law is from Trinidad and it is one of her basic herbs.
"If they sprout, I will bring them"-Noble words of a guy who after 49 1/2 years still doesn't read the instructions carefully. :-)
BB
Donna, can you repost the pics? They don't enlarge for some reason. Looks really cute from what I can see. Becky
Sorry I did a copy & paste from Sharon d-mail, thought it would work.

Smegtone, will you please post a pic of the greenhouse you are building for your step-daughter? I would love for Donna to take a look at it's construction. She's needing a new greenhouse and your plan seems to be a perfect example of what she's looking toward building. We all would love to see it too. The panels you are using is so much better than the plastic I was thinking about using.
Yes Smegtone love to see picture of greenhouse!
To keep Round Up e-mail separted from personal I've set-up a new e-mail address vincentgardens@msn.com
I have had many request from other gardeners about the round up. I'm sending each of you a copy of the e-mail. Hope I've got everyone in my "NEW" address book correct. If you need directions or any info.
please contact me from the above e-amil address. trying to keep thing simple.........so I don't go nuts through all this!!
Have A Great Friday!
Donna
Now Donna, you know you are loving going nuts over all this planning. LOL It's me that would be nuts (more nutty) If I tried to pull together everything you are doing to show us a good time.
Everyone please remember to bring your camera so we'll have plenty of pictures to share! If you happen to have your own Dave's Garden T-shirt, please be sure to wear it. If interested in buying one, go to the Extras on the Home page. Zazzle is the company that Dave uses to imprint the DG logo which has already been designed. You can add your name for free.
Donna, I'm working on the name tags. I may need to come to your house on Wed instead of Thursday. Whatcha think?
I know the time is getting short, and will be here before you know it, so I am going to have to say I will not be able to make it.DW has had an operation that renders her almost helpless, and I have been doing the house work, whith a whole new prespetive on house work.I am still growing the peanut butter shrubs, and will stand by my promise to get them out to every body, but may have to wait till fall RU, just can't see that far ahead.Hope all have the best RU ever, and I realise Donna has worked hard, and long, along with DH.Forgive me folks, but there is no way that I can do an overnight. Mike
Mike, I'm so sorry to hear Barbara's had to undergo surgery but I pray she's on the road to recovery. You both will be missed.
Thank you, deborah.I will miss the RU myself. Mike
Mike so sorry to hear about your wife's surgery. Pray that she will recover completely. Will miss seeing you.
Elaine
Thank you Elaine.Mike
Oh yes Mike I'm hoping & praying for Barbara's speedy recovery. I'm sure you're a "Great" nurse and loving those household chores. Best to both of you!
Not to worry about missing the RU, we'll do this again in October around my birthday!
Yall just take care of each other!
Hugs,
Donna
So sorry to hear your DW had to have surgery, but hope she will better than new when she gets healed. Prayign for a speedy recovery for her. Taking care of her is more important and there always gonan be another Ru.
I was getting worried wondering what had happened to ya as I hadn't seen ya round in awhile, so glad ya had a chance to check in.
Unless I find a radiator, and soon I ain't going to be able to come either, but am gonan mail out the plants that folks asked me for.
I been to tons of junk yards and so far nobody has one for my truck and and the autoparts stores cant even order one cuz nobody has it listed anywhere's. All that work replacing water pumps and thermostates and now the main leak was because of a hole right in the middle of the radiator. grrrrrrr
Sorry Ella, looks as if we don't have bad luck, we would have no luck at all.I know I'll meet you face to face someday.I use to fix my radiator with a heated sorder iron in the by gone days. That process of trial, and error gets expensive.Mike
Andre, you know you are my hero for being such a craftsman. Those are wonderful. The ideal greenhouse. Donna's gonna fall over and die a natural death from sheer excitement!
Your roses are bordered by what? Did you sink a flue into the ground for each one? Nice!
Deborah
Smegtone - WOW!!! Those are gorgeous! My greenhouse is similar, but "only" 10'x12'. I'm on my way out to check my seedlings, 'cause when I woke up this morning, the thermometer on my side porch said 28 degrees! Yep - everything looks great! ☺
28* degrees?. Samantha, Oh no tell me please this is the last cold spell.
I hope so - you know, "global Warming"! LOL My grass got a little burnt from the freeze, but I don't see any other signs of damage - but I'm leaving for Brazil tomorrow morning, so I haven't had time to really check! See you in April! Samantha
Hi Deborah, The roses are in a square pot, the pots are dug in the growing. I only drilled four 1/2 holes in the bottom of the pots.
Thanks to you both, I enjoyed doing them. I never did anything alike in the past. I guess it was my challenge.
Oh,, I love those greenhouses., Andre, they are so much nicer looking than my plastic coated wire. I need your plans,
It was cold here Tues. nite because my clivias and Brugs were nipped while we were gone.
Donna, we were at Laura Walker State Park this week and came back through Hwy 158. I couldn't pull my e-mail to get your address. What a lovely drive it was. I think I saw you out planting, cleaning, organizing.. LOL
Elaine
Thanks Elaine, Sorry I do not have a plan. I go be the size it will be and then calculate the material needed to do the gh. Except for the main frame, every other material has been screwed in place. I went there today, to get some tools I had left. It looked better than mine and could hear the music coming out of it. A 16'x16' cost at least $4,000 without the labor.André
Wow, the days are going by FAST now 18 until the BIG Day!
I am new to Dave's and saw this thread. What is the South Georgia Spring Round-Up? What goes on at this event?
