You can send your little gremlins to my house anytime. You won't believe this but there comes a day when you will miss the noise.

Red, that photo is hilarious, you can torment your daughter with it someday. LOL

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

Ardesia...so true that you do miss the noise once it's gone...my oldest is 21 and in college and it's always fun when he comes 'home' ...my other son just turned 15 and Katelyn is 9....we can usually be found running around in the yard with cans of silly string chasing one another..or playing water balloon hide n seek...when their friends come over to play they think I'm nuts but I can think of worse things for them to think LOL

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Adorable midgets all! I love the mud-covered garden helper!
I have two similar to the little gray one, but they are only good for digging.

Wish this milder weather would last....

Wrong shoes for that kind of outfit.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

LOL, Topsiders make you a very, very cool greaser.

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Diehrd: I don't think you qualify as a midget any more. (Nice hairdo, tho.)

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

lol, core, i didn't have anything else... i threw it together last night! it was those, tennis shoes, or flip flops, and flip flops are not allowed at our school. i thought the sperrys lokked more like something the'y were than tennis shoes. i was looking for some converses, but we didn't have any. but hey... at least we won first place today!!!!! lets keep it up the rest of the week!
it took me two hours to get my hair like that! never again will i dress like that for a LONG time!

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

dirhrd...you looked awesome...you make a great Danny in my book and I bet you had alot of girls wanting to play Sandy...wow shades of Karaoke...the BF and I always sing Summer Nights...and my 9 yr old says John Travolta is hot even if he is old now...LOL ain't it special to be 9! The whole world is yours to conquer...I love it!

diehrd..I bet you would make an awesome "Crow" from the Brandon Lee movie...you have the right eyes for it...

So does anyone else have seed trays going and if so...whatcha growing! it's time to pot up my Centaurea, Asters, Cardinal Vine and several others they all germinated well this year...now if I can just keep the damping off at an even keel I should have a ton of stuff to add to my beds this year (I live on 2 acres and am slowly trying to do an Elizabeth Lawrence thing with the yard...making use of every inch for something albeit a raised bed, a pond, a path...)....I ordered some cool seeds the other day from a place I found on the classifieds here...Garden Store N More anyone ever try them? Anyone have a good place they like to buy seeds from? always open to new ideas and places to peruse....

Deanna

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

I don't mean to go off ok a tangent, but what/who is "Crow"?

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

The Crow was a movie that Brandon Lee (son of the late Bruce Lee - you know pre jackie chan era) starred in. Very sad all the way around as he was actually accidently killed while filming that movie by a stunt gun that was supposed to have blanks in it but did not...rent it from your local blockbuster sometime...it's a good movie ... and heck if anyones going off on a tangent it's me...but hey...thats what happens at times...

36 degrees here now...my feet are freezing...time to curl up under the electric blanket I do believe...

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

Sorry for those who love kung fu movies you are wrong. Jackie Chan was around before Brandon. If you watch his Hong Kong movies you would know he's been making Kung fu movies for a very long time.

Just fooling with you but I'm right I believe.

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

Core...I didn't say Brandon was pre Jackie...I said Bruce, his father, was pre Jackie... :)~~~~

Someone said it might not be safe to post pics of my kids so from now on I'll use this photo.

LOLOL How cute they are!!! ;)

Sad, but true, that you need to watch your kids, and even the publication of their pics, like hawks these days. :( I worry about all the kids whose parents post their pics online these days.

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

BTW that's one kid. One of those X-rays that goes around your head.

The danger to kids has never changed, you just hear a lot more about molesters now. Their numbers haven't changed and probably never will. You know why they don't put kids pictures on milk cartons any more? It scared people but the fact was something like 98% of them were kidnapped by a parent. Just not the legal parent. LOL.

I'm not worried about the stalking crowd being on a garden forum. Any ways my security is high enough.

In fact many people seem to look out for my security. I use to live in a place called Palmetto Dunes and the neighbors were so sweet they use to send security by to watch my house and make sure I was safe. One guy down the street use to watch my yard 24 hours a day I think. He even sent security by with sound meters so they could check to see if people were hiding out in the bushes. LOL. Such a sweet old man. When he saw new people and he felt the need to come down and check them out. Got to talk to the head of security a few times too. He was a great plant lover, one day he was pointing out plants to me and notice someone seemed to have parked a car on a few of them. I said I would be on the look out for the bad doers. He even came by to make sure I was safe when some morons put jet ski's in the canal system and rode around. Nothing but electric motors and paddle power in the canals. He seemed to be afraid the bad guys had parked in my backyard and may pose a threat to me. I told him that's fine he doesn't need to look around my backyard. In fact I said I would call the real police and he needed to get back in his car. I just didn't want him to get attacked by the jet skier's. We also had a little talk about a fee simple estate and what exactly that involved. Believe it or not when I went to POA meeting everyone knew my name and were will to talk with me. Such a sweet crowd all looking out for me.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Just stating my opinions not trying to offend (but diehrd...shaking head now...if your folks are cool with it, I guess I can't say much).

I don't think the fact that this is a gardening site makes it different than anywhere else, I don't trust anybody.

And no one has to come to your house to be doing something you wouldn't approve of

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

Just because your paraniod doesn't mean people aren't after you.

I spent half my life in big cities on the way here. Most of the reason I moved to the boonies, had enough of the city. Not really that rural any more but it started that way. I know my way around and you can't think sonething bad is going to happen all the time. I use to go to Savannah all the time and many people from Hilton Head said I was nuts for playing around down there. I've always liked Savannah but it was bombed out back in the 90's. Totally different night life but you did have to pay attention to where you were. Easy enough, been down there hundreds of nights and nothing bad has ever happened. I won't be wandering around with the kids after dark but I think Sav is a very pretty small city. There is also a completely different feel from what's going on around where I live. Nothing like when they have ice skating at the civic center. LOL. Not a lot of skaters in Sav.

I knew people in NYC that never went outside. Blinds shut all the time. You would see a taxi pull up and out they run. Same when they came back. Out of the taxi and a run to the door. They were scared out of their minds. I never understood why they did that but that's what they did. I guess they liked to watch TV?

You don't have to trust anyone but paraniod of everyone is a different matter.

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

Tropicana...don't worry about offending anyone...thats what conversation is for..to get to know the other person and hear their thoughts...You bring up a valid and good point...I personally didn't think twice about posting my daughters pic but as an afterthought I should have thought more...point well taken and appreciate your speaking your thoughts! See you at the roundup...May seems so far away right now :(

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

I don't think anyone should do anything they don't feel completely safe doing, but I have to echo CoreHHI. The vast majority of kids who are kidnapped, or molested in any way, are victims of a family member.

Anyway, love the B&W photo, Core. :)

Wish this mild spell would stretch out a bit!

Deb

BTW I was being sarcastic about Palmetto Dunes. That sweet old guy hated me. LOL> Probably half the hood wished I would just move out, a quarter just hoped I wouldn't talk to them and another quarter thought I was the most entertaining person on the street. One guy would wait for his wife to go to sleep and come hang out till all hours of the night. Funny. Security liked me to except for the head. Neighbors were pretty boring or just plain weird. My favorite guy had a problem with squirrels so he trapped them and spray painted their tails red. He would go about a mile away and release them. The paint was to see if they made it back to house.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

not sure if I'm safe to say this but....lol

I wouldn't disagree with anything said, particularly that children are more likely to be victimized by someone they know. Everyone has experiences and reasons for whatever level of privacy they choose.

would have replied sooner, but was too busy watching TV and looking out the window every couple minutes for the bad guys....teehee

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

trop...you by chance haven't been on a coffee binge have you...you know the one thats spiced with our favorite pirate...?????

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

did I say piracy or privacy?

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

nah it was just a capt morgans joke silly...you will be bringing some of that with you to ru right..

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

If the child doesn't come and tggfisk drives us home I will! lol, I was thinking about camping (then party is on) but it's probably better to come home. I was so exhausted after the RU.

I kinda thought you might be onto something with the Capt. coffee...for weekends of course

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

but of course..weekends only...{wink wink}

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

kind of a warm thought...

it was 19 here this morning....ugh, GH was 45 when I finally got the nerve to go out there with the heat on all night. It's so unsettling when the walls have ice on them

Sumter, SC(Zone 8a)

I was actually contemplating going to lowes and pricing out some foamboard to put up on the walls...I don't relish the thought of putting up insulation as I would have to move everything out and then itch for days from the darn insulation...

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I used plastic and bubble wrap, made a huge difference and really cheap. If I could have afforded it at the time I would have gone for the reflective bubble wrap. It's not all that expensive, I'm just trying to be as frugal as possible between the heat and the cost of the plants in there...lol

I did have to move everything around, it was a pain

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Tropicanna: Bubble-wrap! What an absolutely brilliant idea! Gotta try it.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

There's lots of info about using bubble wrap on the GH forum. I had lots around so it was easy, but not enough to cover what I wanted so I put the bubble wrap around the bottom of the GH and used plastic for the rest. Only thing to try and remember is to put it with the bubbles on the inside. And I've read the larger bubble wrap is better

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Well, that's what I get for not checking out that forum. LOL. I've tried just about everything to keep my makeshift GH above freezing. I'm so gad you mentioned it. Thanks.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

If it makes you feel better, I have a Rion GH, with a heater, and I'm feeling so lucky it seems to barely stay above freezing :)
