I thought I had entered this bug long ago into BF, but must have forgotten as I cannot find it back in there.
I had asked for ID in Wildlive Gardening, as I wasn't aware yet at that time of the existence of the Bug identification forum ..
When I tried to enter it it said that it didn't recognise the family 'Sphingidae' and was directed to here..

would like to add Mimas tiliae to BF..
bonitin,
I think you must have mispelled the family name 'Sphingidae', because that family is well represented in BugFiles with 169 species!
I have created an entry for your Lime Hawk-moth Mimas tiliae here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/4969/
and look forward to seeing your images added to that page,
Kennedy
Thank you Kennedy!
I'll do that next year ;-) !!
