hi I think your on a good track ,with your planting strategy. Trees seeds usually needs a few months of stratification before it starts growing. And it would be good idea, to start them now. Perennials can be started now too, hardy annual like calendulas, poppies, sweet williams, ... anything that self sow I would started now. Annual, I'd probably wait till March. April for vegetables and very tender annuals like begonias ,impatients, cucumbers and the likes.
Wintersowing in your zone
Thanks so much Burn! KD
Grow Jo you posted 2 photo's on this thread...in the first photo there are small yellow flowers - can you tell me what plant that is?
The second photo there is another yellow flower with a coloured centre...can you tell me what plant that is? TIA.
answering for her and you can correct me if i am wrong - the first photo is a marigold and the second photo the lemon yellow is a dahlietta and the dark centred is the rudbeckia
I agree.
Hmmm do any of you know of any short variety Rudbeckia that is a perennial???
I do a little bit of seeding in the winter, but mostly for seeds that need the warm/cold cycles. Last year I didn't keep great records but I know I was thrilled when my little pine trees from Newfoundland seeds germinated. I got a whack of lilac babies too. I did some lilies and irises outside too.
DawnLL rudbeckia 'Toto Rustic' 'Rustic Dwarf' 'Toto Gold'. All zone 5 I believe.
Can all snapdragons be winter sown??
