Does everyone's Crocosmia flop or is it just mine. I moved it to a sunnier spot this year hoping it would stand tall and proud but no luck. It is a lovely day here in Portland Or so am outside...determined in fact to rid my garden of eyesores...the flopping crocosmia just one of the offenders. But it so pretty, I have given it a temporary reprieve...any ideas?
Flopping Crocosmia
Hi,
Did yours bloom? Mine didn't and don't know why unless they were to young this year. Maybe someone else has an idea about both of our problems.
Mine tend to stand tall in the beds that I water more frequently and flop over in the areas that are let dry out more. Both areas seem to flower well although for some reason the color seems more intense in the ones planted in partial shade. They also seem to stand more erect when they are not crowded!
I have two clumps of it, one flowerd well the other didnt flower at all, they are both with in a couple of feet of each other, and one that didnt flower has flopped the other hasnt, odd.
You all may have an uninvited underground critter working
away at some roots...ummm?
"eyes"
Maybe water is the answer....I am sure you have all heard of our summer fires...we had very low rainfall fall, winter and spring...things are very dry and we are being asked to watch our water use...no real restrictions just be careful. I also water with a hose and am not always as good as I should...Thanks for the input. Dee
The ones in my sunny garden bloomed and didn't flop. The one's in the front garden that gets quite a bit of shade flopped.
Hi Dee and welcome to Dave's. I'm In Vancouver, and my crocosmia bloomed, they didnt flop but they have a weeping look to them....I just thought that was one of their traits. This is my first year with them, mine are in full sun. I have noticed that the foliage is turning yellow/brown, is that normal?
